    As an auto mechanic for 40+ years I've always drilled and tapped and countersunk freehand. But yes it can get real ugly especially on a customers engine, transmission, etc. Not recommended for a newbie.

    Not familiar with tapered barrels but it would seem to me for the liner to be perpendicular to barrel flat the muzzle end of the table would be raised

    I also agree tapping for touchhole liner. I also like that setup your using.

    That's exactly what I did with my great, great grandfather's shotgun mentioned earlier in this thread. After replacing the nipples that were mushrooms from my father and uncle dry firing it when they were kids. Although I did use Duval's gun restoration kit and etched the barrels to bring out...

    I shoot my great, great grandfather's 12gauge double barrel percussion shotgun he had on 1850. If it's shootable I shoot it.

    Shoot fire Cayman I remember back in 1980 while stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base for my "A" school we'd run over to your town cause we could by beer legally there considering our age at the time 😁.
