    2022 Muzzleloader Camp

Would it be possible to get a picture of the peep sight you describe? I have an early T/C Hawken, bored out to .54 and would like to get a peep set-up for it. Thanks, MikeW

Brass Butt Plate found in South Africa

My Irish GG Father fought in the Boer war on the side of the British. I have his discharge papers and pay records of his service. On another note, his brother lost a leg in the battles and his mates made him a wooden leg from the area wood. Not knowing anything of the wood they used (it...

What to do when you can’t do anything else.

Curious to what flies you are tying? I am tying flies for a Green River, UT trip in April (BWO's), lake flies for a large reservoir trip here in Colorado in May (Denny Rickard's patterns), and Mothers Day caddis patterns for a trip in May to local Colorado waters. There are several other fly...

    What did you do today

Too cold here to go to the range (currently 22 degrees w/2" of snow on the ground). Researching info for 2021 upcoming flyfishing trips across Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho. Tying flies for the trips. Looking forward to getting out of the house. Had 1st Covid vaccination with 2nd one on Feb 17th.

Your best deal acquiring a muzzleloader, either trade or purchase

In 2016 I wanted to muzzleloader hunt here in Colorado. so I called a friend (Now deceased) in Montana who had several BP rifles and told him what I was looking for (T/C Hawken 50). He called me back and had found the same in a pawn shop for $125 and bought it for me. (Great Friend) I joined a...

    My 2020 elk.

Well Done!! Colorado has deemed the .50 cal PRB too light for elk. Must use a conical. I had barrel issues with my TC Hawken 50 and had it re-bored to .54 with 1/66 but haven't gotten in front of an elk with it yet. Enjoy the tasty meat.

    Knee replacement tomorrow

I had both knees done in 2012 (3 mos apart) Great results but you must follow the rehab to a T as it will result in great results. I elk & deer hunt in the mountains and also fly fish fivers with no issues!!

Boring a barrel to a larger caliber

Mr. Hoyt re-bored my TC Hawken 50 to a 54 with 1 in 66. It turned out real nice and shoots well. I drew a muzzleloader doe tag this year. Hoping for good hunting results!!

    Draw hunts!

I drew an either sex archery elk tag, rifle buck deer tag on first draw and have applied for a second draw rifle cow elk tag during our buck hunt. I will also put in for a doe deer tag, but not sure whether to go rifle or muzzleloader. I will alternate between my rifle and muzzleloader during...
