    Went to the range

before the showers started. It's taken me nearly 2 years of trying different sights, rb's, patch's, and powder, but it's starting to look good.

    Pennsylvania public land

From what I remember, they laid off the park head, and went to a volunteer system (Friends of Brandywine?). You're right, they eliminated the annual reenactment too. Historians told me most of the actual battlefield is in private hands and housing tracts I believe. And that there was no actual...

Some photos of Battle of Monmouth Reenactors

    Fort Niagara

Thank you, you are correct on Fort George, a wooden stockade, looks like something you'd buy at Home Depot. Wanted to see the barracks built by Butler but didn't have the time.

    Fort Niagara

They hosted a War of 1812 reenactment the weekend before. Don't go late in the day. We got thrown out of the place at 4:40 PM even though signs say 9 - 5 PM. Locked the gift shop up even before then. The Canadian side has Ft. Edward too, as well as barracks built by Butler's Rangers.

    Hammer stalls

They did it back then because using a paper cartridge, that was the loading procedure for 18th century armies. Prime first, then load the barrel. Muskets use a different procedure than rifles. There are still quite a few "modern" shooters who use the paper cartridge method, ie. those who may...

Ha ha, done that too! :haha:

    Hammer stalls

Another post, where the shooter unfortunately lost a finger due to having primed and then loaded his gun, led me to ask this question. I don't care whether you think it's PC or not, do you have/use a hammer stall on your flintlocks? Some of you, I know, prime first. When you're using a paper...

    Dixon's purchases

TG, can't say about the horn. I use a deer antler for a measure. Didn't they have them "way back then"? Trench, can't say who made the knife, since I bought it from one of Brandt's Indians, at the Wyoming Rev War event. Glad you all like them!

Uh, name's not "Todd", but I posted some photos in the Photography forum.

    Dixon's purchases

Here are the items I purchased at the Gun Maker's Fair. The larger knife I got at off a trade blanket at a recent Rev War event. I think the horn is interesting, still holds powder too.
