    Chromic Acid Stain

I must've done something wrong. This is my Miss Muley, stained with Magic maple 20+ years ago?? of course I put it on and then blushed it like aqua fortis.. ( Some other builders asked why I did that, frankly :dunno: ) then I added a bit of walnut stain that enhanced the darker curls .. finished...

Can we talk breach loaders here?

curious as to what the thread profile is like, on the breech components. I know its a multiple lead screw, basically 1 turn/1" X11. for some reason :dunno: as a hobby machinist, threads and such are a bit of a fascination to me..

    Navy Arms mule ear rifle

Here is a drawing I made, after a friend and I were done cleaning and working on a Poor Boy. The owner allowed us to take the lock down and take measurements. As you can see, the lock does have a half position on the tumbler..

    Help Me Identify This

Slim, most people don't associate one with the other. The Jenk's used loose powder and ball, while a Merrill was able to accept a paper cartridge/round. all things equal, the Merrill is an improvement. much faster to load and the breech seal is improved. in its original form the Jenk's was...

Slim, I agree it very well could be a Merrill breech, but since the Merrill is a development from the Jenk's???;) :p

    Modern shotgun barrel conversion

Early H&R muzzleloaders would fully open, the later ones, would only open far enough to put a cap on.. the O-ring breech plug , of the later ones, would hit into the 'hump' of the frame if there was a delay.. I have two of them ( rifle and shotgun ) one of each version. Respect Always...
