    You may also consider filing the rounded part of the hammer face, some times it slams into the frame not allowing adequate contact with the cap.

    I smoothed the edges of the notch and replaced my cones with Slixshot brand, I also flick my wrist to the right and cook the hammer vigorously.

    I shot paper cartridges last weekend, I used a round ball over felt lubed wad and 25 grains of powder, I never experienced any problems.

    Recommend 44 cap and ball revolver

    All I have ever owned were 44 caliber, my favorite is my 1860 army, and yes I like the longer original grip, I have shot six shooters for most of my life and the last 16 years in compition fast draw, granted in FD we shoot 45lc but then isn't a 454 ball realy a 45.

    Only an NFL mask has any chance of preventing the virus from getting through, any other like the cheap garbage blue mask is only psychological, we're paying out the a$$ for something that doesn't work at all, especially the home made mask made by ant Betty.

    I filed the hammer notch out deeper on my Pietta 1860, and now it hits much closer to point of aim.

    Chain Fire Workaround: Skip Every Other Chamber?

    I've had two chain fires over the last thirty years of shooting bp revolvers, and it's not all that bad, just surprising when it happens, but I agree it really wouldn't matter if you skip a chamber.
