    Gun range

Got a 50-yard range behind the house. Good for the muzzle loader, sighting-in and verifying zeroes. For longer range I drive a little over an hour to the the National Forest Service range run by the state DNR. Separate shooting ranges for rifles and pistols. Two or more paid Range Safety...

    How do you prime?

I wipe the pan, flint and frizzen after each shot. (I'm in no hurry). I use the small brass plunger type pan primer I bought along with the rifle kit back in the early '80s. Small lock on the .45. I prime with 4f. Works for me.

    HOW RURAL IS RURAL?

Out the front door is a very busy roadway. (not that way 38 years ago). Behind the house is 600 acres of private land. (not mine, but I like the buffer. I hunt my "back four" and 3 parcels the next island over -- still very rural and the islanders fiercely keep it that way. Lucky I'm only 17...

Hello from the Hoosier State (Indiana for global members).

Greetings from former Ohio River Hoosier. I built my CVA .45 from that same kind of kit. Mine also said "all holes drilled and tapped." But that was not so! Be extra, extra careful drilling the holes for the forearm pins.

Any other crazy kids out there?

Slingshot fights! Remember Wrist Rockets? That really upped the game. We quickly banned the use of ball bearings, rocks, sinkers and other potentially lethal missiles and stuck with dried doughballs made out of cornmeal, flour, sugar and vanilla extract. Hurt like hell at Wrist Rocket speed. Why...

Any other crazy kids out there?

Yep. BB gun wars. No fair shooting above the waist. Worked fine. Welts sharpened your aim. No problem until my cuz was "laying down fire" and I peeked out from behind a tree. Odd. Saw the BB coming. Hit dead center of my right eye. Luckily I was wearing glasses and the lens took the hit -- a...

    New to the Group

Welcome to the forum. I had a 30-year gap in my muzzle-loading life during a long romance with elderly unmentionables. Never too late to rekindle the black powder flame.

    Still Hunting

Not much choice here. I use tree stands and a climber. I hunt a number of small properties, so walking them, even slowly, wouldn't take too long. I have to wait til they come to me from surrounding properties.

Anyone here own exclusively muzzle loading firearms?

Have rekindled my interest in black powder muzzle loading with my old flintlock. I do a fair amount of metallic cartridge reloading, which is what you have to do if you have an interest in old military rifles.
