    Trigger guard install

Pinning is best . . the lugs for the pins are much taller than a casting sprue. Some style rifles and fowlers will have or are acceptable to have, one pin in the lock area and a small steel screw or screws in the tail if the tail is long. Most have two pins and no screws. (Most Lancaster...

Nails popping out of stock on LGPR

I have an older Lyman Great Plains rifle and there's no brass fittings on it. . . all are steel. I too would like to see pictures. It's possible someone did some brass inlays in your rifle.

    Cleaning the .32 Kentucky. oops!

I may be odd, or foolish, but I hardly ever use the patch worm. I don't feel that they grab patches all that well. I find the screw tip of a ball puller works better for grabbing stuck or lost patches.

What mistakes have you noticed in movies/tv shows that happen in the BP era like Daniel Boone, Patriot etc?

Someone posted that the church burning scene in the Patriot made it unwatchable . . . However, if one reads the book, The Swamp Fox, by John Olier, you will find that churches were burned by the dragoons, possibly not always with the full approval of British generals, and colonists were...

    .32 Seneca and traditions Crockett

Pedersoli makes a .32 in flint and percussion in their scout and perhaps other models. Not sure the pricing though. Just something to consider as well.

    How to apply fake striping

Thank you . . . it was a fun project. I feel like I improved it a lot. . . I'm sure a good builder could do much more, but there are design limitations with it from the start . . . Some day I may play with it some more, but I do kind of like it.

    How to apply fake striping

A while back I was given an old Jukar pistol that had a beech stock. . . it was a pretty ugly thing so I took files to it and reshaped it, but my lock panels are not great, and the gun still looks fat in the lock and side plate area . . it's better than the original, but I could have done...

    Hershel House

A legend . . . not many can turn this hobby of building into a whole new school of rifle. His work is amazing. I've seen a lot of comments about him on Facebook and some neat pics. One thing that keeps coming up is his generosity in sharing his knowledge and skills with others. I saw this...

    Lipstick on a pig

That's a nice looking rifle . . . only major flaw I see from a distance is the thick lock panels, but the overall shape of the rifle is good and the wood is nice. . . I prefer a nose cap on a rifle, but to each his own.

    Another original barrel !

    Love that front sight !

    Lancaster Build

I agree with barrel a bit too high . . that's probably an easy fix . . . and I also agree with shimming the trigger as bending it would be a bear and shimming it avoids any issue with the overall inlet that might occur with a light bending of the trigger plate. . . But I am not the expert that...

    Refinishing beech redux

I love Aqua Fortis . . I think it is super cool how it works and it pops Maple better than so many other options . . I just don't know what it would do to beech. I know AF does strange things on some woods. Others here may weigh in and say use AF. I'd love to see pictures of AF on beech. ...

How do you pull back the cock on your flintlock?

Just to add to this . . . I click the set trigger, then cock the hammer.

    Refinishing beech redux

I recently reworked a Jukar pistol that was beech and used Feibing's leather dye . . LMF stain would also work well. It turned out very nicely. I reworked a CVA derringer during COVID and used LMF stain. Those alcohol-based stains are what I'd recommend for Beech. Either stains are not very...
