    Afternoon/evening hunts

    Daylight till dark until deer on the ground. 3 of the last 4 years had deer harvested between 11am and 2pm and the other was kilt at dark... Mornings are nice but deer down are most important. :wink:

    Advice: 1. Go with round ball and patch VS conical - You can make your own that way pretty easy. 2. Practice ALOT 3. Read this forum top to bottom for at least 6 months. 4. Make sure you know to clean your gun properly to put away AND before the shooting starts. 5. There are threads on here...

    Maxiball or Great Plains?

    The great plains is the superior of the two in my experience. Someone mentioned a "big hole" which is ironic since all projectile outta that gun will be pretty much .54 (+ or - a smidge) in diameter when the hit the critter.. THAT being said when I switched to .535 round ball that I could pour...

    Powder or no powder?

    You want the oil OUT of your barrel to load.. Clean thoroughly with alcohol, pop caps until you can move a leaf or gum wrapper with just the force of the cap coming out the end of the barrel. Do this at home not in the woods. Load-em up and head-em out
