1860 Army Belt and Holster & Cartridge Box Questions

Last year I made this belt and holster for my then new to me 1860 Army reproduction revolver. I recently acquired a paper cartridge kit and wanted to add a cartridge box to the rig. However in doing some research I found some issues.First all the boxes I have seen are military, both originals...

    Nitrate paper

Just a thought but when I use potassium nitrate to make slow match for my matchlock I first heat up the water and use it to make tea first. Then I put in the nitrate powder and mix it up, followed by the cotton cord. The tea darkens the paper and allows me to tell at a glance that the cord in...

recommendations for cleaning and restoring originals

I am not an expert but as far as replacement parts aren't the guns worth more in original if broken/unfireable condition than it they have replacement parts. I suppose if the part is totally missing replacing it might be a good idea but my understanding is that most people that collect these...

    New From Arizona

I am in Payson, which is good because everything is the same distance away, and bad because nothing is close. The range here is great though.

Keep your faith in God, but keep your powder dry.

Yea I missed the 2020 fair due to an injury. I put it off by a week because of that but then they closed it and that was it. There is an event at Camp Verde this coming weekend I'm going to try to make, hopefully they know of some local places to get powder as I'm down to my last pound.

Keep your faith in God, but keep your powder dry.

I was briefly in a group that did English Civil War and Elizabethan Era English. There is a very good Spanish group in SoCal that has an impressive musket drill complete with rest.

A picture of my matchlock set up for reenacting. I made the sword baldric and bandolier/pouch myself, but bought the charging bottles and priming flask. Unfortunately since moving to Arizona in late 2019 I have been unable to hook up with any Renaissance/Early Modern era reenacting groups due to...
