    unusual pistol, round two

    Hi Fernado, I have heard this style of lock referred to as a Spanish lock rather than a Miquelet because it has features of both a normal flint lock and the sear arrangement of the Miquelet, I believe the barrel is an older flint barrel that was recycled for this gun.... the stock shows French...

    Sorry don't have a repro..... Dutch Blunderbuss dating from around 1690 Overall length 38 inches barrel to tang 24 inches bore just over an inch....I know I shouldn't but one day soon it going to the range.....

    cannon mishap

    This is the problem when kids are involved with the big guns.... a kid wants to get it done fast and reacts quickly the gun had just fired and he probably was reaching into the pouch for the next round before the gun was even swabbed, powder in plastic bags not encased in foil! it seems 10 years...

    Potsdam percussion musket butt plate 1850-60's.... large amount imported by both sides during Civil War. 1829 may be date of manufacture many of these were flint converted to percussion Look through photos you will find what you have...

    First attempt at blueing!

    Even though its cold blue I like to apply it to warm metal, it seems to take better and give it several applications.... once done and washed oil liberally..... You cannon is coming along nicely!

    fused shells in replica cannons

    The only people I know who have fire explosive shell are the Paulson Brothers they cast shells but did not load them until they were on a army artillery range pretty much unless you have a federal license to build destructive devises don't go there unless you like a stay in the greybar hotel...
