    .45 Caliber: Deer?

In the 2021-2022 season I shot 5 doe with my 45 and roundballs. I hit a 6th but did not recover because I was not allowed to track into the posted property.

    Flint to frizzen angle?

The first thing Brad Emig would do would be flip the flint. I used to debate it with him, and others now I realize it's not debatable.

    Round ball and blood trails

I've been ML hunting since only 2016. I have killed 12 so far. 2018, one with a .54 2020, two with a .62 2021 five with a .45 2022 two with a .58 2023 two with a .58. All roudball. I'm a traditionalist and prefer roundballs. Most everyone I talk to agrees they don't bleed well. There are...

    First handmade nose cap

It's a 28" 36 caliber, Mark Weader has in his shop, I think it's from Bobby Hoyt. I'm not following any school. Just having fun building a gun similar to a Lancaster profile. I've looked at a Jacob dickert rifle in the Shumway book through the build.

    Handmade ramrod pipes

I thought of that, but I thought the thickness of the brass may come into play... Maybe it's close enough from thin card stock to the brass. Thanks!

    Handmade ramrod pipes

I posted last week about the nose cap, and this week I made the entry pipe. Clay Smith has an awesome how to video on making ramrod pipes. It definitely played a huge part in making them myself. One thing I found myself wishing I had access to was sizes or template dimensions for 5/16 and 7/16...

    First handmade nose cap

Very nice. As far as a bivens butt plate I got one I was going to use but didn't, it was too big for this little gun and frankly I didn't like the shape. I'll put a couple pics of the one I made next to a bivens.

    First handmade nose cap

I am building a 36 caliber rifle for my kids. I will be posting sometime about it in more detail once it's completed. Anyhow it's my first plank build and I'm making a few of the parts myself. The thimbles, butt plate, side plate and nose cap I wanted to make with sheet brass. My first attempt I...
