Round Ball Hunting with a 10 Gauge

I purchased a Pedersoli 10 gauge about 15 years ago. I have shot a number of Turkeys, Rabbits in front of Beagles, Geese and Ducks with it. It has removable choke tubes. I want to use it for deer and was wondering what size round ball and patch combination to use. I realize the Perdersoli is not...

    10ga Pedersoli SxS help

Do a search here. I reported what worked and didn't work for me. Same 10 gauge Pedersoli w/ chokes. I have shot several New England Turkeys with my loadings. Always been BANG flop. I would never shoot over 30 yards.

Yep...I am a Masshole also but at least from the Western end of the state. Some day the western end will leave Massachusetts and become part of Vermont.

What to use for a powder measure?

For hunting I weigh out each charge with an OHAUS 10-10 powder scale. Hunting live critters I try and reduce all the variables. Also I only use real black powder. I carry 10 tubes of pre-measured, 100 grains of black plus one in the .54 Renegade.

    Need advice on rusty barrel

Try "CRUD CUTTER" It's expensive per oz. but all your going to do is plug the barrel and fill it up.

    50 vs. 54

People that shoot a 54 caliber usually are found drinking PBR and Bourbon neat.. The .50 crowd usually drinking wine spritzers and Fuzzy Navels. Now I am not saying the 50 crowd has some kind of gender identity problem....what I am saying it is an age thing. Older hunters like the 54....Young...

    .50 vs .54 accuracy

My .54 Renegade has a Green Mountain 1-60 twist. It is right now more accurate than me. I am amazed at just how well it shoots. But words to remember "There is NO replacement for displacement". It is a shame the .54 has gone out of favor.

How do you waterproof a wooden ramrod

I broke a few rods in my 50+ years of hunting. The rod I use now I heated with a hair dryer and kept applying Paraffin wax to it until it would hold no more. I did that 25 years ago and the same rod is still going strong...... even with my Grandson using as a drum stick!
