    The picture is of a Colt M1847 "Walker". Some replica gun catalogs show a section for "Walker/Dragoon" i.e. both models as a group.     Mold fills

    NO! They do sell solder. Percentage of tin is printed on the package. Most common is around 60:40 tin:lead. Takes a little math to figure out how much solder to add to get to a given percentage. I typically use 40:1 lead:tin for BPCR bullets of any caliber. Have done very well with this ratio.

    Tumbling minié balls. Advice please

    Something is definitely way off. I used to shoot tighter groups with similar minie ball (RCBS 500 grain) at 200 yds... set a record at 200 yds sitting position. Had to shoot near top of target to hit center using open sights. Try many things...be observant...learn and record results. You'll have...

    Only thing I see a bit off is overall size of lock is rather small. Otherwise a pretty fair replica of a Hawken Rocky Mountain rifle.

    Lead ingots

    The easiest thing to do is try to scratch/cut it with your thumbnail. If it digs in pretty readily it's soft enough for casting lead round. balls.

    My best shot was made with my 40mm Whitworth style cannon. one evening I was shooting it for fun at the California State Shoot. Early 80s it was. One friend had a pistol target posted at 50 yds. Another had a 100 yd yd target posted at 100 yds. Both to serve as sighter targets the next morning...
