    Howdy from Montana

Welcome from Idaho, neighbor. We just spent a few days in your beautiful state. Really enjoyed ourselves. Best part was visiting my cousin in Hamilton. Next best, having breakfast at Sykes in Kalispell...... GREAT eats.

What kind of stuff do you all read?

I just finished "Wild Bill" by Tom Clavin. Before that, "Calamity Jane and her Siblings" by Jan Cerney. I just started "Dodge City" by Tom Clavin. Next trip to town I will pick up "The Indispensables". I read a lot as does my wife.

Many thanks to all. The pistol belongs to my cousin's wife. She and he are very happy to have the information. They weren't quite sure what they had.

A .36 cal. Colt Navy(?), brass framed, round barrel. It's in a very nice presentation box with a powder flask and a bullet mold. Mold has cavities for a round ball and a "bullet" with one lubrication groove. It has never been fired. It was distributed by Westerner's Arms. We don't know who...

Welcome from Idaho. Here's a picture of my BP arsenal. It's not much but they are fun to shoot even if I can't hit anything but the dirt berm behind the target.

    Hello from Arizona

Welcome from Idaho. You've come to the right place. Post a picture of your rifle or pistol, that's always a good way to start the conversation.

    Howdy!

Welcome from Idaho. A good way to begin a conversation is post a picture of your firearm.

    too complicated

Fortunately, I'm pretty sure my son will be glad to take ownership of my prized possessions. He likes to shoot also, not only black powder but my unmentionable firearms as well. At least those he could take back to California with him. He might try to take some of the other stuff...

Powder charge. How much powder do you use.

My goal is accuracy. The loads I use are generally at the lower end of the scale of suggested loads. My .58 caliber CVA rifle likes about 75 grains of Hodgden's Select 2FG and a patched .562 dia. round ball. The patching is mattress ticking. The recoil is a "push" rather than a kick...

What to do when your farsightedness get`s worse..?

I'll have to try that. I bought a Gehmann Iris clip on but could never get it to work correctly with my regular glasses. Thanks again, specially if it works!
