    Loading the cap and ball

I doubt you'll need to do it again after you try it once.

Thinking of casting my own round balls

My local recycling center got bought out by a bigger outfit. Now they don't sell to individuals, so there goes my easy access to reasonably priced lead. Glad I bought quite a bit when I did but I'm going to be looking for new again.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Throw my hawks and knifes at least a couple times just about every day. I'm walking right past it any way. I put up a big round of firewood hanging from the swing set to use for a target back stop, with the berm behind it. Should make a pretty dandy bullet catcher.

So which style of tomahawk ear do you prefer ??

About anything, so long as it comes from HB Forge.

Thinking of casting my own round balls

I've cast bullets, balls and ingots on everything from a Lee bottom dripper to camp fires, kitchen stoves and coleman stoves. This is my latest creation and I really like this thing. Built a big wood burning rocket stove. To smelt scrap yard lead and ingot and actually just bought a Lodge hot...

Thinking of casting my own round balls

If your pot is getting too hot just drop another ingot or the sprues in the pot and cool it off just a little. I never use a thermometer.

What is the reasonable distance to quickly kill a turkey with a muzzleloader?

I like to HUNT turkey. If all a person cares about is shooting one, get a frozen on at the store and see how far away you can shoot it. I'm not going to hope there is a golden BB in there some where. When I pull the trigger on a game animal, I already KNOW it is dead, I'm not wondering if it is...

What is the reasonable distance to quickly kill a turkey with a muzzleloader?

How far could you put 5 pellets in a golf ball?

What is your method to keep track of a gun's appetite?

When I do testing on the range I write on the targets all the pertinent info and take pictures of it. Then at the end of the day I can sit down and go through the pics and save what I think I'll want to remember and give the photo a file name the same as the gun and may be the date for a number...

    Standard length of Pull ?

Why do you even care what a "standard" is if you KNOW what you want? Find out what you NEED and buy that.

What's the farthest you've ever shot with a long rifle?

My furthest target is 130 yards so just for kicks, last time I had out my 30-06 I shot all the way around the world PLUS 130 yards just to make it a challenge.

What's your favorite sight in target

I have a 12"x12" piece of AR500 steal and paint it white with the + in the middle like your picture. That is my favorite.

Cleaning a BP revolver. learned one way, what are some other methods

If he is your friend, why don't you trust him to teach you right? At least until you've tried it half a dozen times and see a problem with it. My way isn't exactly like his way but I'll give you something here way more valuable than a different way of cleaning a C&B pistol There is NO BETTER...

    Any substute for lead?

Condors and lead bullets have been in the wilds since the Spanish stole California from the Mayan. They would be extinct by now if any of those claims were are REAL worry.

    Cheap shooting gloves

If it is cold I wear cotton jersey gloves. If it is above freezing I don't need gloves.
