Study: Hunters Die After Consuming CWD-Infected Venison

This has nothing to do with an attempt to remove guns or hunting, blah blah blah. Take your tinfoil hats off. It was not even intended to be research, but was just some sort of poster presentation that a med student did and then a news outlet or two got a hold of it and apparently needed a few...

    How old are ya?

I'm in the same boat at 37! When I taught highschool at the ripe old age of 22, one of my coworkers told me that she thought I was an old soul. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now I have my high school boys telling me I'm an old grouch.

    Utah regulation chnges

I like to think of traditional as what the people were using that founded our country . Really care what they were using before they came to America. And maybe a little while after since I like half stock cap guns too 😉

    Kibler Finish Question

My first lock bolt hole was not drilled accurately, so I plugged and redrilled it. I thought I had the wood grain of the plug matched up well, but apparently not! I consider it a freckle ;)

I was very surprised at their decision, but I am glad it was done.

    Kibler Finish Question

The link Dave provided is a good one. I did my first and only so far gun with Permalyn sealer. I followed Bill Shipman's method in that link. However, when I put on each coat of sealer as finish after the first sealing coat, I put it on too thickly. After 5 or 6 coats, it was far too built...

    Cow Elk Load

I have been cow hunting with 130gr 2f behind a .570 ball. I'll let you know how it works out.

Will this leather work for a cows knee?

You're welcome. Thanks for sharing yours and the advice. I somehow didn't even see the pattern and pictures of yours you posted until just now when I went looking for it. I somehow missed it. Those look very nice! I'll probably give that pattern a shot on the next one.

Will this leather work for a cows knee?

Yes. If I get to scanning it at some point, I'll attach a file here where it could be printed to size

Will this leather work for a cows knee?

Yes. 8"x13.25" I glued in a strip of leather, probably 1/4" wide, between the two halves where the stitching goes. It provided a better seal of the upper end where the fold is, rather than trying to smash that crease perfectly flat.

Will this leather work for a cows knee?

Yes, despite the leather not being supple, it does seem to seal pretty well when I wrap the strap around as pictured. Not having stitching on the front half seems to help. The rear where the stitching is doesn't seal as well. I thought I'd test it out as is and see if I need to try to wet...

Will this leather work for a cows knee?

Here it is. I just need to work a lot more neatsfoot oil and then obenaufs into it.

    swamped barrel inlet

That is a really good idea! I'm now thinking really hard about getting a router for the next one I build

    swamped barrel inlet

@sdilts , I understand the rails would guide the router for the side flat swamp, but what about the swamp depth? Are you just routing to the shallowest depth and finishing with chisel, or do you somehow have those rails shimmed underneath to match the swamp depth?
