    Swivel guns on tripods

Try not to laugh now ., I use 2 Pontiac universal joint caps from the rearend of any 60's era Pontiac. The lower clamp gets a 7/16 course thread nut welded to the clamp. 2 little pieces of all thread and 4 brass Acorn nuts later with copper tubing to hide the all-thread and there you go a...

Hammkiller I wish I had an answer for you I could back up with a fact or two ......., but I dont. Here are a few of my renditions of a field swivel . We shoot these several times a year . A Swivel is great fun and a good way to go for someone wanting a cannon thats a bit more portable.

    Brass round stock... any potential?

kevthebassman I have several cannon from firecracker sized mini cannons to 1"bore in Brass. Squire Robyns post is the truth. We fire these all the time and as always we check out bores and breaches for abnormalities in the bore and bulges. None to date. There is in fact a manufactor making...

    Cannon powder vs Fg

This pipe is 1 1/2" to thin in all directions for safety. Rule of thumb for cannon is 1 caliber thick in all directions ., minimum ., especially for a swivel which is in your face. A 2"bore would call for a 6 "breech . thats a heavy duty swivel ! The Swivel at the back is 3 1/4 at the breach ...

    1858 Loading Stand

I have the Powder Inc. model now for a couple of years. I bought it from Cowboy Action Shooter Dick Dastardly's site . mine has the spring. We reload several .44 pistol cylinders at one time using a .454 ball cast from wheel weights (Harder then good soft lead -that would be easier) Its hard to...

If you could own only one

Since this thread is now all over the map on which gun is better., including the not historically accurate modern invention called the ROA and the issue of the top strap of the Remmy being adopted by colt for the 73 ....., ? then Iam left thinking only one thing., Dont get me wrong., I shoot my...

If you could own only one

Well lonewarrior ., I guess youll need to decide for yourself which one youll try first..., you know the beauty of this .,is., after a while you can always get another..,. and another., and ? You only live once. With all these pros and cons., it seems personal prefrence is really the bottom...

If you could own only one

The 1858 Remmington . Stainless (Not the target model) Stainless cleans easily and looks nickel plated. Later you can pick up a couple of extra cylinders., since they are so easily changed. Cabelas has a pretty fair price on them.

    Smokleless in cannon??

I am no cannon maker., just a collector, however 660 bronze is my favorite and then there is DOM . The cannon should be a minimum of 1 caliber thick in all directions at the breach. For powder testing perhaps the wall thickness should be even greater. There are others with more knowledge than on...

    Swivel Gun

mazo kid ., Thanks for your intrest. My swivels posted above both have a 1" bore. I use 180 grains 2f BP in a foil packet and a .9750 ball I cast in a custom made mold. I couldnt tell you how it would react with wheels I can only comment on what I know (Have). I use 3 legs (1 1/4" pipe) that...
