    Peep Sight on flintlock?

I have a TC Hawken that i fit an L&R flintlock to, then added a GM 62 Cal smooth barrel rifled by Mr. Rayl The open sights would not stay in focus so I removed the rear sight and installed a Skinner Sights lo pro peep in the screw hole by the hammer This is a single screw stud with the peep...

    Constipated Renegade

I have several .58 GM barrels in my TC's. I have never experienced the problems you have described. The main difference I see is that I shot heavier lads. 90 to 120 grs FF and FFF. You might want to up the load and thus the pressure and see if you get improvement in your plugging issue. Try 80...

    lead temperarure

This issue comes up a couple times a year when bullet casting is discussed. The vapor is so dense and heavy it hangs out microns above the liquid lead and condenses right back into a liquid. An extremely powerful electrical ark might voporize enough to be a problem but regular casting pots and...

What is best way to clean rig grease out of bore?

My go to degreazer is (MEK Methyle Ethyl Keytone)from the paint section of the hardware store. Also a great finish remover from stocks so keep it away from yours unless you want to refinish it. It will also cut cosmolene.

    Make it look perty!!

NO NO NO buffing! If your case hardening is dull, then get some 30 weight motor oil and 4 0000 steel wool. Soak the peice and the steel wool. then very lightly and gently rub the dull areas! You want to remove the corosion not the case hardening colors! Lighter rubing is better. I have done...

    Diamondback Powder..

I would buy the KIK powder @ Powder INC if I was looking for powder less expensive than Goex. It is slightly better than Goex in my opinion, but close enough to go with either Goex or KIK based upon price. You will not be dissapointed with KIK

    What Caliber

I have found the .58 caliber to have the best of all Roundball worlds. It has mass, it has a big diameter, and speed with a reasonable powder charge. The 58 with 1x72 rifling is my go to roundball caliber. I am not saying the 54 or 62 calibers are not great in their own right, they are. Just...

First BP Gun: Percussion vs Flint, Smooth vs Rifled

Ray-Vigo, When I got back into BP shooting, I did several things. 1- Spent a lot of time reading many old posts on this site. Learned a lot and decided what I wanted. 2-I had a Renegade caplock and bought a .58 caliber GM drop in barrel set up for roundball. 3-Shot it and liked it so much...

    My New T/C Hawken

I tried the solid brass ram rods as Roundball sugested, but found the weight unwelcome. I went with solid aluminum ramrods from RMC http://rmcsports.com/catalog.htm They are perfect for me and are tough never break tools. No reason to stay with the wooden version in a hunting gun.

    The chrono don't lie

The Brits learned long ago that for penetration on game you needed a hardened round ball. Less deformation means more penetration.

    Powder Solvent

I have had wonderful results with Hoppes BP solvent and patch lube for in the field. It keeps the bore clean and does great as a patch lubricant. For home cleaning the hot water and soap followed by Remington spray oil keeps it rust free. Store bore down to avoid oil pooling in the breech area.
