    4 wing musket cap

Schuetzen caps are about $10 per 1000 cheaper than RWS. Looking forward to blasting a lot of powder this next reenacting season. Thanks everyone for your replies.

    4 wing musket cap

What are people's views and experience with Schutzen 4 wing caps. My Armi Sport Enfield misfires on CCI's but does well on the RWS. Looking forward to more reenacting events for next year and will need to stock up again.

    Ackerman Arms

I always make a point to see him at the local gun shows (Saratoga, Albany) pre pandemic. Very knowledgeable. Had a lock fixed by him. Lots of parts.

    Midway

I order powder and caps from Crater Fireworks out of IL. Never had a problem. I also like the pens and scratch pad paper they send with it.

    Ackerman Arms

Paul Ackermann is very good. Had him work on a Pedersoli lock of mine. I always go to the Saratoga, NY gun show to talk to him or bring a new recruit to our reenacting unit to purchase items needed. Very knowledgable.

Low cost Brown Bess Short Land Rifle?

Just pure luck, right place, right time for the Coach Harness. Already been offered a nice chunk of change for it. At first I didn't know what it was until I did some research. Got a short sword and an original East India bayonet with it. The barrel has a nice brown patina to it.

Low cost Brown Bess Short Land Rifle?

I will reiterate the point of finding a reenacting group first. They will tell what to get. Also, most groups will have that someone that works on everybody's muskets when problem occurs and they will steer you in the right direction. Plus they will know people that are getting out/retiring from...

now HOW did that happen ???

Have one even better. At the 150th Gettysburg, someone brought a newbie and tried to attach them to our company. First night he sits down next to the campfire loading cartridges. Second Sgt. flipped out on him. Here is the best part, he was legally blind and we wouldn't let him on the field with...

    Tin Canteen Rust

As a member of the 3rd Tryon County Militia, I had first dibs on equipment of a former member who started during the Bicentennial. I got his Bess with bayonet, cartridge box, and canteen. The canteen is tin and probably made in the '70s and has some old rust in it. Probably hasn't been used for...

Who else polishes their brass over the winter?

I'll polish brass in the winter also. I want to look sharp for the Memorial Day parades. During reenacting season, not so much. Back to looking like a farmer/militia.
