Grease or Oil on the Arbor

Finish Line bicycle grease. Just cuz I have it to grease bicycles. Any grease would work fine.

4 wing musket caps for a TC

I use musket caps on all percussion rifles because they're easier for my clumsy fingers to handle. "They" say the smaller caps are more accurate, which is probably true, but I can't tell any difference.

So how are you supposed to fill this powder canister?

I just use an RCBS powder funnel made for loading unmentionables. Works for me.

    mold handles

It looks like Saeco mold handles would fit that. Based on my calibrated eyeball.

    Set me up to cast!

And get a Waage K4757 pot. Best lead pot made for ladle casting. $200, but the kids don't need the money.😁

    Set me up to cast!

I cast minies with 20 to 1. But I am a heretic and apostate. They fill out easier and shoot as well as pure Pb.

    Help with cast bullet sizing

When I do maxi balls for my rifles I try to size the body of the bullet to bore size, top of lands, and leave the front band as in cast diameter. But, as I think others have said, you need a lubrisizer to do that

Casting for 1st time. Do I have it all?

Oh, and a lead thermometer is also a great thing. 720 F for balls 820 F for minies.

Casting for 1st time. Do I have it all?

A face shield is always a good idea. Eyeballs are kinda fragile.

Casting for 1st time. Do I have it all?

I have always used a rawhide mallet for bullet exit encouragement. With soft lead you can open the sprue plate via (gloved) hand.

Locating top of round barrel for sight mounting

Back in "the day" they used "the bones". Two pieces of flat stock, lay one on the flat of the tang and , with an assistant position the other at the end of the barrel and sighting down the barrel, when "the bones" are aligned horizontally, the assistant marks the intersection of the round barrel...

    Lined barrel

RIG grease is pretty much a go to standard for long term storage of firearms. BTW I know nothing about cannons.

    GOEX Update (again)

Estes uses a lot of black powder to make model rocket motors, so vertically integrating would make sense. Plus they would be able to sell to GOEX's old military customers. Hope it comes to a good outcome for everybody.

    Round ball hardness

I cast minies out of 20 to 1, but I'm a heretic. The minies shoot great. Admittedly off topic, but a wee bit of tin helps with casting anything. My RB alloy is about 100 to 1, flows like water at 750 F.

    Patch Lubes

Distilled water, or rain water, and pure grain alcohol.
