    Capotes!

Mine is based on a coat pattern, I think it started as a JP Ryan Frock Coat pattern. It's a lot more fitted than most of the "standard" capote patterns out there. I added a hood and extended the front to overlap. It's made from some fulled Melton. The finished coat has wool ribbon on the...

Thanks Idaho Ron ... you've done it now

To add to this and throw another rifle option; I've been playing with these PP bullets in my Lyman GPR. Not the round ball barrel but I found a GPH barrel for it. (GPR is a .54 but I bought a .50 barrel for it; dropped in with very minor fitting of the tang-barrel) I'm still working on this...

    Couple projects for a friend

Thanks, gents. I finish pipe stone with beeswax like shunka stated. I just heat the oven to around 175 and set the pipe in there for about 10 min. I rub the beeswax over it while hot and let it soak in. Then strap is a safety lanyards of sorts. In case the pipe and reed become separated, the...

    Couple projects for a friend

A friend recently asked me to rehandle an old knife for him as well as make him a small pipestone pipe. I've found I haven't done many projects the last couple years so this was good to get back into things. Anyway, the knife is an old five pin Russell butcher knife from around the turn of...

    ALRA trek

Two summers ago our group did a 30 Miler (ALRA event). We base camped it and did three day treks over the weekend. It was a lot of fun and was a great way to find out how best to carry stuff. We all carried at least one blanket incase the weather changed and we had to spend the night away from...

    TOW Iriquois Tomahawk

I've had one for a few years. Its split its share of kindling for fires. I don't throw my tools so he experience with it on that respect. I took my time and fit the handle pretty slid and also final fit it with a braintan "washer" so to speak. It has not loosened in a year.

    Rust Blueing

I did the bath method. Used a PCV pipe "trough" and poured the scalding water in. I did go cheap and used two pieces glued together (had them laying around in the garage) but it worked. Here's the link Link

    Utah Muley Success

Congrats on a nice muley. 17A is tough; close to some major population centers and sometimes hard to get away from ATV trails. You did a great job!

Office Display Of Flintlock and Accessories

I've been contemplating how to do this for a while now. I'm finishing my basement and a section of one of the walls will be dedicated to a couple flinters, bags and horns. Trying to make it look nice and not haphazard will be interesting.

Sean, the Third Time Was the Charm

Congrats, Herb! That's great country up there. Only 4 years to draw? Dang, maybe I'm putting in for the wrong units.
