Uberti 1858 Remington army
My experience with Uberti has been with their SAA clones and I like them a lot... so much so if I get another 1858 it will be a Uberti. -

Which 1858 Remington to get
I have a Ruger Old Army and Armi San Paolo / Euroarms 1858 (both Stainless) and I'm tempted to get a Taylor's in SS also. Since I'm a stainless buyer, obviously I have no concern for historical accuracy :-) -

Pietta or Uberti 1858 Remington
Not BP, but I have three stainless Uberti / Cimarron revolvers (two .45 Colt one .357 magnum) and all are flawless in fit and function. Their stainless is about the nicest revolver in SS that I've owned and that's quite a few. To date I have and have had revolvers and autos from Beretta... -

Pyrodex RS (FF equivalent) in a revolver
I've had pretty good luck with Pyrodex and I used it exclusively and never used black. Once on a range outing with friends we all shot patched ball and I swabbed very infrequently while they were swabbing regularly with BP. -
Continual trouble inserting Uberti 1858 cylinder
Yeah, I discovered this roll technique by accident but the "just so" helps and luckily I don't care about rings on the cylinder. Those are put there so the next owner can cuss me. -

Thanks all, I'm new to BP revolvers but have a very long history of using 1911's and I guess I made some ASSumptions after hearing many buy Kirst conversions. -

Many makers in the past and currently have made 1858's... how? I mean was there an ancient cache of hand drawn blueprints that was preserved by handing down through the generations? Did Remington have and disseminate them into the public realm? Or, perhaps were the current models reverse... -

M. Deland is right, it could have issues you cannot see. But, I sold a .38 to a guy who squibbed it and bulged his barrel, I was told that when he brought it back it shot as good as it had before the bulge. -
Conical bullets in a .44 ROA and 1858
I've only used ball in the past but a couple of years ago I started powder coating so my Star sizers no longer have or need lube. I have a few Q's about conical bullets. Should these also be pure lead or is a hard alloy usable / preferable? How does powder coating do in BP revolvers? If powder... -

Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?
I look at them as a shipping container, and eye candy for a potential buyer, then into the garbage for mine.
