People overestimate how often percussion revolvers were reloaded...

I catch those mistakes all the time, especially around the time of the Civil War. I sort of solved the reloading issue on my 1858 by buying a couple more cylinders. Now I can reload them on the bench with a homemade press and just add caps when I am at the range.

Looking for Information on an unmarked gun

What i have done when faced with an odd sized nipple is to use the original as the portion to thread into the rifle and cut drill and tap a new hole into it for a new nipple that I could currently buy. Make a old nipple sleeve for the new nipple.

Can you advise who made the action. Also could you give the measurement from the front face of the action to the center of the hammer where it would strike the nipple. thank you,

    Any information about this musket/rifle?

That proof mark with the oval around it looks to be Belgian. I have attached a link to a site with more of those marks. http://www.hunting.be/wp-content/uploads/Belgian-Proof-Marks.pdf

    28 gauge... 54 smooth... I have ?s

You're right according to the shotgun gauge chart. But it seems that what we may be calling a 28 gauge is based on 54 caliber, which used a .530-.535 approximate ball size, my 54 smoothie uses a .015 patched .520 ball.

    tc rear sight

I have used this sight on both my TC renegade with a Green Mountain drop in barrel and on a Cabelas Hawken made by invest arms. I used existing tapped holes, but if I remember correctly I could only use 2 holes and the ones that did line up were different from rifle to rifle. To plug the...

    lock function.

When I was working on my lock the other day after shooting, I looked at the tumbler and no fly, but it was there. Dragging a strong magnet across the carpet got it back, they sure are small.
