Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
It's all really quite very simple. Dark sight in the open, light site in the shadows. Either, or! As i have spent most all of my time in the woods, i tend toward dark sights, as my ole eyes seem to prefer them. Go figure. Yours will differ! A Silver front sight seems to make me shoot low. Maybe...
It's all really quite simple; it eliminates the "gray area" for field officers checking your rifle gun!! Is it the "stamped caliber" or the "diameter of the projectile"? Here in Ohio, we are restricted to "38cal or larger". The understanding is that a 40cal rifle will use a .380 or larger round...
There ain't no way on earth that's a Hacker rifle!!!!!!!!!The Museum of Appalachia has a few i've seen in person. That "thing" ain't even on the same planet, with a true Hacker gun!!! Black and White!!! Sorry. It's still a shooter, though.
Between my wife and i, we've killed over 2 dozen whitetails and mulies with 60gr-3f w/prb and have only once found a ball still in the body. A 57yd head'on shot she took at a mulie doe. The ball was found under the hide, in front of the off side hip joint. 60gr-3f is more than enough, but does...
No, it does not gain any noticeable weight from moisture. However, any properly cut gun stock will move, vertically, up and down, often leaving the breech tang standing proud. It will not/should not swell sideways or length ways. I try to finish my builds in late winter. The wood is at it's...
You're kidding us, right. I've fired over 300 rounds, without wiping, in a row, with not one failure to fire. L&R Manton. Sometimes ya gotta think out side the box/old wives tales!!! Follow your own trail!!! Yur gun will tell you what it wants!! Trust it!!!!!!!!!!
I have Curry's first R&R volume. Very good, but, a difficult read for me. I'm much more pleased with Mark Baker's "A Pilgrim's Journey", both volume's.
All of Sam Fadala's experiments showed that anywhere between 30-40lbs pressure on the ramrod created the best results. Consistency is key. Smaller calibers, finer grain powder need less pressure. Heavier calibers, courser grain powders need a bit more. Ultimate accuracy requires consistency of...
So far, all you seem to need is a gun that goes bang!!! Your own build!, down to that level, is insane!!! Are you really serious, or not? If you are, please stand by, if your not, please rethink your position in this matter. Good day, Buzzard
I live only 30mins away from him and have heard many mixed reviews. The two stocks i've seen from him were very good indeed, but i also have to trust the opinions of my fellow shooters who have used his services and were gravely disappointed. I've met the man and he seems honest, has a clean...
IMHO; breech scrapers are only required for smooth bores. I've yet to find a need for one in a rifle. Smoothies, on the other hand , are a different critter.
