New Uberti 1861 Navy from Midway. Buyer Beware!

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it can be cleaned up or you can get a refund. I wouldn't say this is ubiquitous to Midway though. I bought the same model Uberti 1861 Navy from Midway in late January and the box and pistol arrived in great condition. There appeared to be some rust in a few of the...

    Blessed late night from Tennessee

Howdy from Nashville. Just bought an 1861 Navy last week. Plenty of black powder shooting groups in central Tennessee, but not a lot of cap and ball shooting that I've seen. Hopefully that picks up in the area.

Muzzleloading shops and ranges in Huntsville, AL?

In addition to the Poplar Hollar Longrifles, there are also the Davy Crockett Long Hunters in Lawrenceburg, TN. We shoot on the fourth Saturday of every month except November and December. There's a rendezvous at David Crockett State Park in August.

    Investarms recent quality

I recently bought a new Investarm left hand flintlock Hawken carbine. Fit and finish is pretty good with only minor inletting gaps around the lock and the butt plate. I have not fired it yet, but have dry-fired it to test the flint. It sparks well and the touch hole and liner placement is...

Bucksnort Longhunters 18th Century market fair

That was pretty cool. Given the crowd size, we had to make several passes just to see all the tables. You're right about the clothing. There was some, but not a lot. Came away with a couple of shirts, ammo, and odds and ends while my wife got a start on her outfit. Well worth the trip. If any of...

    Two Feathers

I'll add to the ever growing list of recommendations for Two Feathers. I recently acquired one of his exquisite ball bags and couldn't be happier with it. The craftsmanship is excellent and is a noticeable step above the quality of the bag I previously owned. Furthermore, Dave is just a friendly...

Bucksnort Longhunters 18th Century market fair

Thanks for the updates. I was wondering if anyone scored anything great today. I've mostly got clothes on my shopping list, but even if the selection is weak it sounds like a fun place just to look around. I went to Dixie Gun Works a few weeks ago and didn't need anything in particular, but...

    School of the Longhunter

I was hoping to see more insight into the School of the Longhunter as well and would like to attend next year. As you said it appears to be more an advanced course although topics this year don't appear as specific (aside from the French chairs talk) as some years. My thought is that you would...

2023 Alabama Kentucky Rifle show Jan 13-14 Jan 23

Oddly, I find it the opposite. I have no idea if "cool" is in the lexicon of under 30 crowd. I tend of to think of everyone who used it is pushing 40 if not 50 now, but it goes back much farther than that. First time I got to see a Woodsrunner in person and immediately "cool" and a plethora of...

    New guy from central KY

Not sure when the next rendezvous is in that area, but you've got the Bucksnort 18th century Market Fair the first week of February and the Lake Cumberland Kentucky Rifle Show the following week.
