Smoothin out da smoothbore ummm..... bore !! :D

Rob, I recognize that barrel. I have several I bought years ago, both the 16 and 24 bore. Mine are about 28", IIRC. I'd like to build an 1830's Cavalry Musketoon, maybe soon. I think a half stock blank might work. I need breech plugs, but I think I can make them.

    Pryce and Redman Revolver.

I've always liked the Tranton's and other British percussion revolvers. That's a real nice one.

Where/how can I get a cheap powder horn? I can DIY most of it, I’m not picky.

I still use the one I got from CVA, over 40 years ago. Check out ebay for used ones or Amazon if you want new. Btw, I'm a lefty also, I always carry my horn on my right side.

    Black powder on smokeless ranges

I just came from the indoor range here in town. I had to pick up an unmentionable I just bought. While there I spoke of shooting my muzzleloader there. I've shot them there before The Kid running it told me I couldn't shoot black powder because so much of it doesn't burn and lays on the...

    Light hunting rifle, straight stock?

We tend to use much heavier charges of powder than BITD. I have a book with notes from a king's bespoke rifle. It was 16 bore and used a 60 grain charge. Few would use that light a load in modern times in a rifle. Also, a stock too straight is a bad thing also. You ever shot a WWI era...

    Black powder on smokeless ranges

Definitely a good idea. There are Several videos online of guys shooting muzzleloaders with an open can of BP nearby. The flash is something to see.

    Black powder on smokeless ranges

Most has been covered here, but just a note. Don't carry a can of powder to the bench, it makes some nervous. Horns are fine. As stated, be prepared for 20 questions and stay focused. Many have dry balled in similar situations.

    Hello from Suffolk, UK

Howdy from way down here in North Texas. Welcome to the forum. Some " smooth rifles" were made BITD, and we understand the situation you're in with smoothbores.

    Hello from Le Claire Iowa

Howdy from North Texas and welcome to the forum. For me, muzzleloading is calming of sorts. I only get off one round to the cartridge guys 20,(40), but I savor every moment. Just stay focused, and you'll be fine.
