Any other heretics out there that oil their barrels?

Hot soapy water, then blast with WD40. It displaces the water. When i`m done cleaning up the cleaning stuff, i`ll hit the metal parts with brake cleen. The chlorine free stuff. That gets rid of the WD40. When thats dry, i`ll oil up with whatever oil is handiest, and i mean that. If one is next...

    Stupid stuck nipple

Got original nipples out of an 1839 enfield and an 1863 remington “Zouave”. Soaked in ed`s red for a week or a month, dried them off, heated with a propane torch, applied vice grips and they came out far too easily. both nipples were stripped/eroded of any wrench grabbing surface. The 1839`s...

    Endoscope recommendations

I have a Y camera brand(china). I got it to inspect used barrels before purchasing if the breech plug was still in. It’s a 7mm, and should have gotten the 5mm. It does have a 15 or so foot cable and have used it for inspecting others stuff as well, like the central vac, and the kitchen sink...

I also refer to them as the Shop Supervisors As thats where they live. the guns, well i call them whatever the manufacturer named them

    Rear sight on a smoothbore

I have an original mid to late 1700`s RW trade gun relic. It has a finely made primitive rear sight. It also shoulders very well with sights immediately on target. Wish it was a shooter, and would so much like to make an exact copy of it for shooting. The stock might actually be a replacement...

Things are good. Going to be getting the revolvers out to Czar range with buddy who has a membership there. I think its Czar. the Pontiac is coming along and burning up most or all of my gun budget, but the weather(lol) is getting better so back yard flint shooting starts soon.
