    Fluted Army Sings Sweetly

Thanks for the kudos Bill! "knowing your equipment" sure comes into play to make this a reality. Interestingly enough, several of us at Old Bridge Rifle & Pistol Club have this specimen & they all shoot like Tack-Drivers! Guys are switching from single-shots with adjustable sights to the...

    Any active forums on competition?

A few thoughts about Woods Walks & such: One of my favorite days mentoring in the Dark Arts came several years ago now. Myself, Long John, Ray & a 14 year old Newbie were squaded together for a Woods Walk. We arrived at the Card Cutting Station & it was my turn to shoot first. So I turned to...

    Any active forums on competition?

It's interesting to read your long history of Match attendance. It makes your compliment on my writing carry even more weight, for which I humbly give thanks. It's very inspiring to hear of a four point spread in a 1,000 point aggregate Match. The larger local club I belong to would yield...

    Wing shooting today.

NICE shooting! I'll be back afield w/ the 10 ga. double maybe next month or so. I use 3Fg in mine (72 grains) and it does quite well. Have won both clay matches I entered thus far this summer. Keep up the excellent shooting & fine pix!

    Fluted Army Sings Sweetly

I gifted a charcoal blue fluted 1860 Army by Uberti to my son years ago. Imported by Taylor's in Winchester, VA & sold to me by Gregg Dixon, this handy revolver has the tightest lockwork & smoothest trigger out-of-the-box of any of my Cap & Ball collection. I don't buy things to look at, I buy...

    Any active forums on competition?

Out our way there seems to be increased BP activity, not decreased. We implemented the NRA Qualification Program, and our local club has over half of the Country's NRA Distinguished Experts, myself being one of them. There's much more to competition than just the NMLRA Nationals. Often local...

    Dixons Gunmakers fair

And just over the bridge in West Reading is a quaint town that borders Wyomissing (Taylor Swift's home town & current address of my son), also a really nice place to live, work & eat. Penn Avenue in W. Reading is a entirely different world: Coffee shops, upscale shopping, wine & whiskey bar...

    Stuck nipples

Glad you're working on a solution. Good luck & remember to pull all of the nipples & clean the gun prior to loading it. New or used, it don't matter.

Made four people happy this morning....

A HIGH FIVE from across the Pond my old friend! And thanks for sharing. Mentoring is a great feeling! Dave

    Experiences with felt wads

I use a pre-lubed Ox-Yoke 10 ga. wad in the same gun you have. I use it for upland hunts, so the lubed wad isn't resting on the powder charge for any great period of time. If I use a lubed wad & want more lube in the bore, I'll put a 1/8" OP card on top of the lubed wad. If lube contamination...

Ultimate effect of how hard a charge/projectile is rammed?

I'm a little late to the party, but am in complete agreement with those here that have obtained superior results by eliminating as many variables as possible, including the seating pressure of loaded BP charges. Using a Chrono, I've been able to lower the sdv (and thus tighten-up my groups) of...

    South Central Penn.

All GREAT info so far & almost everything covered, so I'll just add a stop to visit the Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum at Jacobsburgh (Nazareth, PA). Open Noon-4:00pm Saturday & Sunday, May through October. Loads of originals & a gift shop too. Jacobsburgh runs a Market Faire & Rondy the last...

SMOKE maximisation - how can I make more of it.....

There are ways of producing more smoke, but they also produce more fouling. If you were gonna throw-away the pistol instead of clean it, and you are after a pyrotechnics display, I could clue you in on how to achieve the results you wish (for a brief period of functionality). But since you...

10 Ga. Artillery Drops Flyin' Chickens!

There's a chance we might get to meet-up at some point. My son lives next door to you in Wyomissing & works at Reading Truck Body. A small world, eh? I have a ton of favorite joints to eat at, from the Tomcat Cafe in Sinking Spring to Jimmie Kramer's Peanut Bar & a LOTS more! Next time I'm...
