    50 cal. green mountain

I have a 50cal. 42 inch, 7/8 in. green mountain barrel, 1 turn in 70 in. wondering if I would lose accuracy cutting it to around 36 in.? Building a leman style perc. rifle, (maybe flintlock). Thinking cutting it back will take a little weight off. Thanks, chuck
