    45 cal barrel length.

Well heck, I shoot my Lyman Great Plains Pistol all the time with 45 grs of Pyrodex "P". The recoil doesn't seem all that bad. :idunno: Now, I sure would not want to take it elk hunting, no way. :bull: I forgot to say the pistol is .54 cal using a .530 round ball about 222 gr weight...

What size percussion cap is right?

I had the same problem, I was trying CCI # 10's, too small. Remington #11's- fell off. Went to Remington #10's-problem solved, fit just right, just bought the Pietta new from Cabela's about 2 weeks ago, don't know if older pietta's have the same nipples, probably not. So, you might give the...

Rogers & Spencer-What a kick in the head!!!!!!

Right, with the .454 I got a very fine sliver for a ring, with no real effort needed to seat. I like getting a fair ring when I seat RB's, I don't want to have to pull a king kong to seat a ball either. :shake: Dale

Rogers & Spencer-What a kick in the head!!!!!!

Well, Capt Kirk, I told you I would give you a report when I got my Rogers & Spencer, so here it is. Very impressed with the revolver overall, locks up tighter than any other BP revolver I have. Simple to break down, just turn screw on left side of gun 1/2 turn, and pull loading lever, you're...

    Using FFg in bp revolver

It might be the climate the powder is stored in. Here in Wyoming there is virtually no humidity, and I keep my powders in a closet in an unheated room, that does not get damp :hmm: Where are you located  Dale

    Using FFg in bp revolver

I've got Pyodex "P" and "RS" which are over ten years old, and it is shooting just as well today as the day that I bought it FWIW. :hmm: I have never noticed Pyrodex being any better nor worse than regular black powder. Dale

    nipple wrench for 1862 Police

Now that is one heck of an idea. :hmm: It wasn't as bad as it sounds, i've got a vise with wooden jaws, and had a good amount of cloth wrapped around the cylinder. I will use your idea in the future though. :hatsoff: Thanks.

    nipple wrench for 1862 Police

Just a follow-up, I received the "Baby deluxe nipple wrench" from the Possibles Shop today. I works like a charm on my Uberti 1862 Police. The thing that really bugs me though is how tight Uberti had them installed. :hmm: I had to put the cyclinder in a vise and REALLY crank down...

    my GP pistol

I have the .54 cal GPR with both barrels and the .54 cal pistol. I haven't shot the pistol much, but the rifle with the optional sights is a real tack driver, have had it about nine years now. Good job on the pistol. Dale
