Pedersoli Indian Trade musket has arrived.

Best of luck with your purchase of this new long gun, and enjoy many years of making smoke on the range and afield. Taking one of these flintlock jobs to the range for the first time is a real hoot, and far out does moments at the bench with a modern breech loader. The sound is...

My old / new to me flintlock

In a pinch, with the lock in the fired position, ease the hammer and frizzen into contact, and gently increase the pressure on the flint edge. This will re-produce a new edge on your flint. Welcome to this unique and special side of firearms. You won't regret it. :hatsoff:

    Help from Flintlock hunting experts

If you do any pre-season scouting on that PA mountain, you might consider visiting Dixon's Muzzleloader Shop in Berks Co., located in southeastern PA. Greg Dixon now owns the shop after Chuck's retirement, and the shop offers a good selection of Lyman flintlocks as well as custom long guns...

    CVA ST.louis hawken flinter LH

First, God Bless you for your service to your Country. It is greatly appreciated. :hatsoff: I'm also a lefty, and began my plunge into the world of flintlocks back in the 70's when the Pennsylvania Game Commission opened their first, after Christmas, flintlocks only season. My mistake was to...

    The Gunmaker's fair at Dixons

I spent the morning there yesterday, and as always, it was time well spent. I always enjoy admiring the professionally crafted selection of side hammer weapons, and the array of beautiful horns and bags. I left Dixon's with three horns for future projects, a .36 cal. breech plug...

    Rust prevention...

Brad Emig made my.54 cal. Yorktown rifle several years ago, and under the butt plate and barrel, he applied gun grease. No problems.

    Powder Horn Stoppers

To pass the time between deer sightings, I tote a few sections of fallen branches from the yard, i.e. red maple, white pine, sassafras, etc, and my trusty Case penknife. The pieces are usually in the 4" to 5" inch size so I can hold one end and whittle a peg out of the other end, keeping the...

    My New Birthday rifle

Happy Birthday, and Best Wishes for many more. :hatsoff: Enjoy that beautiful rifle for years to come, and enjoy many hunts with the fine friend who built it. And, the lock position looks just fine to me.

    Frankenstein build?

Kansas has it pin-pointed, the touch hole and pan must align, and if that is evident, then you can proceed to build a fine rifle. Good luck! :hatsoff:

Some of you guys flunked the one gun

A lefty jaeger, swamped, 31", .58 cal. curly maple.

How do you fare shooting opposite handed

When I walked out of an auction with a TC Hawken back in the late 70's, I knew I was ready to participate in Pennsylvania's newly offered "Flintlocks Only Season". That cockiness lasted only until I began shooting this rifle left-handed, and experiencing the "flash-in-your-face" a mere few...

Just completed TVM Lefty .50 construction photos

As an old lefty, I couldn't agree more. That is indeed a fine looking rifle! Good work!

    What Made You Choose Flintlock?

Like "walks with fire", I too, wanted to participate in PA.'s initial flintlocks only season. And, I started with a TC Hawken as well. My problem was dealing with a right-handed flintlock as a lefty, and I never overcame the flinching as I moved up to a right-handed Hatfield. I couldn't hit a...

    Dutch's system works

Wow, does that bring back memories! My wife at the time and I bought a 4-door, '49 Chevy for $50. bucks, and that old tank carried us back and forth from Easton, PA. to East Stroudsburg State College every day for a couple of years until we graduated. And, then pulled a 16 ft. U-Haul to our...
