    How i make my caps

Ordered one that is on the way... I have, though a lot of trial and error, set up my system and have come up with a very useable #10 cap and a musket cap.. They slip on like a glove.. I am having to print them on a raft as the individual caps don't have the adhesion to keep them on the plate. A...

    How i make my caps

I think I will start by putting an amount of alcohol in my bowl and adding powder to that, keeping things as safe as possible. Using a syringe to fill cups will require a certain level of liquidity that is going to be experimental but there are some unique syringes that will handle a thicker...

    How i make my caps

Considering the consistency of the ingredients mixed with alcohol... Couldn't you load a syringe with it and load the caps that way? The alcohol wouldn't evaporate that way and one could easily. meter it. Your thoughts??

    How i make my caps

That makes total sense.. BTW.. I went on tinkercad and made up a model for the #10 cap.. Easy to use and mastered it in a couple hours. This will be fun.. Thanks for your ideas and willingness to share them.

    How i make my caps

When the mixture dries inside the cap hull and you compress it down, doesn't that break it up as it is already set?? I am piacing these in a tin, loose and wondering if the mixture will withstand that without crumbling and falling out? Do you wait until it is bone dry or damp when you compress...

    Another option for caps.

I am a babe in the woods when it comes to 3D printers but this certainly seems viable.. How can I get the file or better yet a mini SD card ?? Would you consider making up some of the mini cards ??

    DIY Caps Question

When adding the mixture to the cap hull I find myself a bit inconsistent but found that grabbing the cap body with a plastic forceps and dipping it into the mix is a fast way to charge it and there is no spillage. With a little practice I think I can get it down to a science. Also used a micro...

    DIY Caps Question

I want to try using the plastic tray for 100 large pistol primers.. Forming the brass cups and then placing them in the small depressions for stability of loading with the priming compounds. Seems like that should work slick. Also a way to store them once made, rather than dumped in a box or...

    Simple question…..

Love this forum.. I have been a percussion shooter for the most part and this year jumped off the cliff and got a repro flint musket (Charleville 1777 ).. Followed was the order for the mold, some good English Flints and I'm mastering making period paper cartridges. I even ordered some...

    Military heritage brown bess

So, as I understand, it is acceptable to drill through the breech plug threads into that smaller recess on these guns? I suppose it is really not a factor if the hole is drilled correctly and of the right size.

Finding a place to shoot artillery with projectiles ??

I have shot Civil War era artillery for over 45 years and belong to a unit that shoots full scale rifled guns ( 3.0 and 2.9 inch Parrott's).. We are located in Minnesota and find ourselves at a distance from the one long distance shoot I know of in Tennessee.. (Gallant Pelham shoot). Distance...

Military Heritage matchlocks.. How do they rate?

I am a veteran muzzleloader and I wanted to add a matchlock to my inventory. Military Heritage seems to have a reaonable price on their 2 versions of matchlock available but before ordering one I thought I would check with the forum and see if anyone has seen their products and how they rate for...

    Not toys

Definitely not toys.. They represent the cutting edge of technology of their time and are the base of the evolution of firearms today. I don't need to remind most of you that we represent a "living link" to those days when black powder was just gunpowder and are responsible for passing on the...
