Sights for an Alex Henry Muzzleloader

I have this shotgun with an extra dedicated breech and a 45 caliber fast twist barrel Rice Barrel and have not purchased the sights. With the completed checkering and engraving, which I don't want to disturb, I want a rear barrel sight in either folding leaves or ladder sight. Ever seen a...

    Finally Drew A Tag

Good luck on your hunt. ML sights will change here in Utah this year, but the application time has not expired. With open sights or 1X scopes only, I hope the application numbers will go down also. Based on last years records, if nothing changes, my chances are 1 in 20 for mule deer for the...

    Trigger sear position

I guess I don't understand what has been said. My last single trigger was approx. where you show. More of the length of pull, but less pounds of pull. I love it. The further back the less pull length, but the more ft. pounds of pull to shoot.

    Hawken Shotgun

I made two alex henry type shotguns. The sky is the limit. The last one was a 20 ga and shoots 62 caliber round ball quite well, to 60 yards at least, and enough to kill a deer in the morning, grouse in the afternoon.

has anyone ever used a globe front sight with inserts with a leaf rear sight?

    BARREL rear sight peep

I made an English Alex Henry 20 Ga. sporting rifle. At the time when I ordered the parts I purchased an extra breach plug to match the existing tang. Now I decided to order the extra barrel in a 45 caliber fast twist barrel to fit the existing gun. I really don't want to add a sight mount on...

    twist ?

The last muzzleloader barrel I purchased from Green River was after they had gone out of business and was sight-unseen. That old Green River barrel was one of their last. A 45 caliber and I made a Leman Trade Rifle out of it for my son. He shot round balls out of it and the grouping was only...

    Times change

When I was fourteen, I purchased a Ruger pistol for $38.00 at a variety store by myself. No one was with me. At fifteen I purchased a Model A. for $25.00. I had a sixteen year old friend help me drag it home only to have my Dad tell me I could keep the car so I dragged it back and got my...

    Times change

Boy, how times change. I don't know how many of you pulled this picture in to see the old man, but what a story he had to tell. His year shooting a ML were probably shared to this young pilot. Even my years in Utah have been more of an evolution of change than probably most you. I remember...

    Long Term Rust Prevention

Captain V, I agree, but I am afraid we are in the minority of gun owners. If you are a member of this forum, you would think you are in a majority of those cleaning their gun constantly, and you would be right. There is a large group out there that have gun so buried they can't remember what...

    Long Term Rust Prevention

Thought I was done with this subject. I am not, because finally deciding WD40 Specialist Corrosion Inhibitor, I was reading that the regular 40 may ruin a gun stock. Any experience with this? Will the 40SCInhibitor do the same as regular?,
