    Not toys

Sorry Pardner no matter what the C&B is used for hunting, target, can chasing, or just for the h7!! of it they are not toys. The four rules still apply. Bunk

    Not toys

People who are used to the big bore, loud, powerful, magnum unmentionables and stat shooting C&B guns are the ones i am speaking to. If a .36 Navy is compared to a .454 Casull the Navy would seem like a toy gun. That is who i am talking to. The four rules still apply. Experienced BP...

    Not toys

correct I should have said 150+ years ago they were used in war. However obsolete they are still dangerous and should be treated as being dangerous. that us what I was trying to put across to new shooters. the four rules still apply..

    Not toys

The point being that not everyone shoots at a range that the shooters are so tightly scripted and monitored. Some people have access to private property and can plink and just have fun. Perhaps since they may feel the guns are obsolescent firearms are not dangerous. What I tried to point out is...

    Not toys

There seem to be a lot of people who are new to cap and ball revolvers and just starting out. Welcome to the fascinating, enjoyable, frustrating sport of Cap & Ball handgunnery. However, these are REAL GUNS not toys and can injure or kill just as surely as a .44 magnum unmentionable. If you...

    Lack of cylinder safety pins

transfer bar, transfer bar, we don't need no stinking transfer bar. Since the Texas Rangers quieted down the Comanches the number of pesky injun troubles has dropped to zero. Load five and let the hammer on a uncapped firing cone. These guns may be old time, but they have put many a man in the...

    what is the difference

yes really both .36 caliber (.375" actually) frame and grip the same, the barrel length i am not sure. I will have to pull one of each and check. More to follow Bunk

    what is the difference

The 1861 Navy has a round barrel and the rammer is a ratchet or geared arrangement instead of pivoting on a bolt. Otherwise they are the same it is just a matter of appearance. Bunk

Patch lube for round ball shooting..........Lawdy.

At my advanced age I am doing good to just see the target at 100 yards. I date back to corrosive percussion caps and DuPont powder in the oval can with the small brass screw in cap. But still shooting Bunk

1851 Navy repro (Uberti) locks up when I lowerthe hammer onto a safety pin. How to fix?

I do have a number of both and all work well. Having said that all have been tuned by knowledgeable smiths. The rammer on Uberti guns has the proper shape for bullets or ball. The rammer on Pietta is shaped only for ball. the simple fix is shoot bullets or ball in Uberti and ball only in...
