    Kibler 32 SMR

It is easier to install another back sight and leave the front sight high. I did that on my Woodsrunner, and it was right on the money. It cost me a back sight out of my parts stash. Nothing wrong with the dovetails.

    Wood grain

I agree with Jim. Blemishes add personality to wood that is only curly. Look at some of the books. The European builders didn't waste anything. They fixed and patched the wood. Even on the high grade pieces. I see his kits on here all the time with nice wood and unsanded cutter marks on...

    Get an air rifle.

    Wobbeling Hammer

It is easy to move a little metal to snug up the fit. If you manage screw it up, Chambers sells the hammers. A thin shim will also work.

    Kibler lock In Chambers fowler?

There's a background story about the two locks, but it is history now.

    Kibler Colonial Trigger Guard Wrong?

.Jim K. doesn't say his rifle is a copy of anything. It is a generic rifle. Maybe a Moravian or jaeger guard would be different, but after that it is close enough to be from the period.

    Original or Replica ?

I know zip about Besses, but if it was original, wouldn't it have British proof marks somewhere? Just for fun call and ask for a picture of the proofs. See what they answer.

    need hammer fit advice

He's right. Don't mess with the tumbler. Too hard. For a hardened surface get a cheap diamond file set from Harbor Freight and polish all the surfaces to remove the roughness. Then use a bit of oil or grease to achieve a press fit. I've never had one ,but T/Cs appear to be case hardened...

    Kibler side effect?

You have to look at the cost vs. benefit when in manufacturing. Jim K. could sell 100 RH kits while making 3 LH kits that may or may not sell. If you really want a LH kit, offer to pay a non-refundable deposit up front and wait. That will let him know how much interest there really is. I'm...

    Suggestions—> Broken Screw

I would have removed the cap box and turned the screw out with small pliers. Or cut a new slot with my Dremel.

A new rifle from Jud Brennan hits the Lower 48.

This is a concept/fantasy rifle from Jud Brennan that recently hit a rifle black hole in Kentucky. Astronomers say the black hole is centered near Paris, KY. and will suck in any nice rifle that gets close to it. This is a .50cal. persimmon stocked concept rifle. It has a Rice barrel and a...

I would finish cleaning up the buttplate.

Patience is your friend. 😊. For about $1300 you can get a plain Woods runner with great parts.

Their Dixies had their own Ashmore locks not Silers. They also had the short rail triggerguards. The profile is also different also the triggers. Building a new rifle would have been easier than modifying a Dixie Mountain Rifle.
