Just picked up a Pietta 1858.....

These revolvers shoot great. My favorite!

    1858 Pietta 1st time ?

I was just worried about the ball "jumping" to the barrel. Not a problem?

    1858 Pietta 1st time ?

I loaded with 25 grains fff and a felt wad and a .454 ball and I still have some room at the top of each cylinder. I know (now) that I should have used filler to get the ball closer to the barrel. Will this cause me a problem for 12 shots? Does anyone know how much filler (cream of wheat) it...

    Capper?

Found one at Gander for $10 - Traditions straight line capper for #10 and #11 - works great - holds 15 or so caps.
  5. B

    Which caps?

I bought some stainless steel Pietta nipples and #10's Remington caps and they fit.

    Which caps?

What brand / size of caps work best with an 1858 Remington (Pietta)?

    Capper?

What's a good capper for an 1858 Pietta? The one for my rifle is too big. I have a bunch of #10 caps.

    1858 Rem / Pietta Balls

Anyone using .451's instead of .454's? When I bought it at Cabelas they only had .451's but then I read the instructions and I should be using .454's. I guess I shoot'em up, but do you think my accuracy will be seriously impaired? Thanks - just getting back to shooting after a couple three...

    Conicals in 1858 Pietta

    Length of Time

I know this has probably been answered a lot of times, but how long can you keep a cylinder loaded without the load damaging the cylinder - assuming dry conditions?

The Wedge in an 1851 Navy

Thanks everyone - it all works.

The Wedge in an 1851 Navy

So the wedge is going to come out, screw or not, right? The screw is a "stop" to mark how far back in it goes in reassembly, so as not to drive it too far in and bind the cylinder? Just checking.

The Wedge in an 1851 Navy

As long as I'm here - what nipple wrench has worked? I know I'll need one.

The Wedge in an 1851 Navy

I also read not to drive it in too far or the cylinder won't move.
