    Knife find

Purchased this knife off a trade blanket. I like its look. The total length is just over 12 inches. Does anyone recognize the makers mark? Thanks.

Is this a CVA or ??

If you remove the lock it will usually be stamped with Spain or Japan. That should narrow things down. Good luck.

    Hopkins and Allen Under-hammer

Jappo If the inside of the barrel is in good shape $250 is a very good deal. Your call of course. Pro's are fast ignition and very accurate. Con's are you have to pinch the percussion cap when installing or it may slip off the nipple. Just my 2 cents. Good luck on your decision.

    Lock panel 101

Thanks for the tutorial. I especially like how the convex cut flows to the grip portion.

    Lock panel 101

I struggle with the shaping of lock panels. Knowing that in general the panel tops must not be rounded off and that a thinner width is better then thicker where the wood meets the lock. Please let me know what exact tools/techniques do you use to shape the curved transition area leading to the...

    T/C Hawken Percussion Misfires

Bill Cleaning and oiling the lock is a good start. My question is how does the lock fly look? Is it present? Is it whole and undamaged? The fly should move freely. It helps the lock sear to skip over the half cock notch. Good luck.

    I went to a car boot sale…

Good buy. I also like to go to local garage and estate sales to buy chisels, files, old knives etc. Clean them up and put an edge back on the blades.

SOLD Hopkins and Allen Under Hammer

Treeman If you wish to fix the stock issue just remove the butt plate. That will give you access to the bolt that holds the stock to the action. Loosen the bolt and turn the stock 180 degrees then tighten the bolt back up. Reinstall the butt plate. The patch box will be on the correct side...

Does this seem right to you?

I have seen the bent sear on CVA mountain rifles. Of the several CVA mountain rifles I own only two of the sears are bent. They function fine. It is always a good idea to make sure the lock and triggers work correctly before going to the range.

    CVA peep sight

Here is a link to some peep sights. You may or may not like em. Marlin peep sights. There are peeps for Thompson center on this sight. Might be one that works for your situation.

    percussion pistol kit instructions

Tony There are no instructions that come with the kit. There is a YouTube video put out by duelist1954 that shows how to put the "flintlock" version of the Kentucky pistol kit. That may help you a bit. Good luck.

    Drill press jig

Jon Look in the "gun builders bench" forum. Use the search tab and use "center drilling jig". A lot of information will pop up for you. Good luck.

Can anyone give me some information on a flintlock I have owned for about 20 years pictures below

It looks a lot like a "Markwell Arms Derringer".
