    W. J. Scott shotgun

While at Friendship last week I bought a nice little 20 ga. double gun. It was made by W. J. Scott. I admit I know very little about early shotguns and was wondering if anyone knows anything about Scott shotguns.

    Point of impact changing

I have hade this rifle for several years (maybe 10) now it is starting to shoot high. I have always aimed fOR center now I have take a 6 oclock hold. This seems to be the case if I am shooting Goex or chinese powder. Just seems strange to me.

    crisco as patch lube

I don't know what a displaced hoosier realy knows about lube but in this case I thiknk he has a point. I have used Balistol and it works great and it is probably good for the bore of your rifle being a lube but I still use spit because it is handy. By the way Bill if your not doing anything...

    7F powder

I have usede 7f for years and know several other people that have used itand have not had any problems other than a stif wind will blow it out of the pan. I have now gone to the swiss NullB. As fast as 7f is NullB is noticably faster. Berk

I shot my .40 in the white with nothing on the wood. The black that gets on it comes off with light sanding. Berk

    BP shotgun

You have to be careful using paper and other things that may catch fire. If it is dry out wadding of this type may be left smoldering and cause a fire. Berk

Bad day at black rock Saturday

Gun season opened Sat. here in Indiana. I have not been deer hunting in several years so I broke out my old seldom shot .50. I got up got to the woods and settled just as a glow was showing in the east. I set until the old bum was numb and started still hunting. I hadn't gone 20 yards and I...

    INEXPENSIVE SHOOTER?

I shot a traditions Ky rifle for a number of years and still do on once and awhile. It is a good shooter but just doesnt hold up if you plan to shoot alot. I am on the 3rd lock on mine. For the casual shooter who isnt interested in historical accuracy it should be fine. Berk

    Smoothbore Pistol

I at one time had one of the old made in Japan Tower pistol. I also was having a sparrow and Blackbird problem at that time and I would load it with shot and newspaper wadding and shoot birds. It wasnt too effective and I dont think I would have relied on it for serious hunting. Berk

    History of Chewing gum

As a kid we would chew the sap from the neighbors plum tree. I cant remember what it taste like but I can remember climbing up and pulling it off and chewing it and saying this is what the pioneers and Indians used to do. Berk

    Gourd Shot carrier

The thing about gourds is that they are fragile. If they are full of shot and dropped on a hard surface you would be sweeping up shot I think. I have been thinking about making priming horn out of a small gourd though. It would be for a spare in case I left my regular horn at the house. Berk
