    A hunt gone awry...

Really? I shoot yotes i dont eat all the time. I farm. They kill my animals. But i do follow up on the bloodtrail to find them and finish if needed. They deserve that In my opinion, if you werent willing to follow up, you should have never shot. Thats by far the most polite way i...

My Effective "buckshot load" in a 62

Definitely a misunderstanding Im saying you can see the whole deer. Positive id. But saplings occlude part of the kill zone. But plenty of it is visible in other words the center pellets will hit the sapling. The edges of the pattern deliver two or three kill shots simultaneously...

My Effective "buckshot load" in a 62

Well id say there are quite a few reasons why you might want a few holes in a deer. Like i said its not legal in ny so i am simply answering a question i see often about buckshot. People here ask about it every so often. The general consensus ive read here is a 36 cal ball loses its...

    Winter Flintlock Tips?

Instead of changing the pan, while still at the house i cut thin slices of beeswax and roll between my fingers to make a thin snake. I lay the snake along the outside of the dish in the pan on the top surface and press thr frizzen down while its still warm. Then i do the same to the top of...

My Effective "buckshot load" in a 62

Seen many posts about buck here, and the main issue always seems to be retained energy. Just on a whim i decided to try some Larger projectiles. I ended up getting very acceptable results About a foot and a half spread at 30 pAces out of my clinder bore fowler Load : 90 grains ffg Full...

Shot snake spout: English or Irish?

    Condensation fouling vs fouling fouling

Great info and links popping up on this thread. I thank you all for the education Since it was mentioned the powder will dry on its own i must ask, is any burning potential lost or changed by being wetted then dried?

    Condensation fouling vs fouling fouling

Accept moisture yes but wick it out of the air cc? Pan fouling creates an obvious soup in humid air but a clean pan with prime, if kept dry from actual water doesnt seem to in my experience. Did they say why? Granulation matter? Sgt i rolled with an air assualt unit in blackhawks. We...

    Condensation fouling vs fouling fouling

Sidenote, i carried a double combat load in iraq too. Never needed all of that extra weight. But I was sure glad to carry it just in case.

    Condensation fouling vs fouling fouling

Depends on what the hunt is for and for how long. Maybe a touch of an exagerration but my one horn I use with my fowler holds probably o.4 lbs. and i fill er up. Otherwise i dunno how much i have really. Its never clogged up. No reason not to carry it A squirrel hunt turns into a...

    Condensation fouling vs fouling fouling

I hear what you are saying for sure. My prime clumps sometimes in its closed brass tube. Wonder if my steel tube reloaders will be affected. Have 15 made and they have been in my truck for a week heating up and cooling down. More sealed than my barrel for sure.

    Condensation fouling vs fouling fouling

I have had my flinter go plooof instead of bang before. But i blamed and blame it on the lube i was using and having it loaded too long with a liquidy lube. I didnt blame it on condensation though i know it is real. Here is why. We worry about our loads in the barrel, but not our powder...

How about a show and tell of battle scars

Mine has all kinds of marks from use. Mostly tiny. The annoying ones to me are the marks by the lock plate. From the zipper on my jackets carrying it At the ready while hunting. I just rub a touch of fouling residue in A new one when i spot it and it becomes character. Ah well
