    loading issue

My semicustom long rifle was drilled to 5/64 and has very consistent ignition but at times I do notice a bit of powder that squires into the pan. I leave the pan open when loading and don't worry about it. I AM MORE CONCERNED WITH THE GUN GOING OFF EVERY TIME THAN LOSING A LITTLE POWDER. just...

    Pietta lube recommend vs Uberti

If using a fiber wad no lube is needed, IN fact the only time I have ever had a chain fire on me Pietta 1860 was when I used crisco for a lube, It turned out that poor fitting caps on factory nipples was the problem. After swapping to Apco bronze nipples I now often shoot it with ball on powder...

    blowing down barrel

This is not a reply to anyone in particular but how many of you naysayers have dropped a light down the bore to check out the condition of said bore, what's the difference you still have your face in front of the muzzle right?

    Pietta 1858 loading catch stuck

When talking about lubes you'll probably get a dozen different answers. I have been using a light mineral oil on mine for years , others will tell you Remoil and other name brand gun oils, but mineral oil is cheaper and the base for most other gun oils anyway.

    cleaning the Lyman breech

I have a LH gpr and found a .410 shotgun mop and a little alcohol works well to clean the chamber in the breach. And when it gets really dirty just wash out with soap and water, let dry, fluff with your fingers and it's good as new.
