Hello, how do you guys travel with your rifle? I do not see many options for cases. I am speaking about traveling to a hunting or shooting area by car.

I throw mine in a soft case from October country. None of my regular cases were long enough for my flintlock

My wife made two leather cases for my 42" Pa. long rifles.
ACE Case, it's sturdy for a soft case.
Kibler sells one to fit his SMR, and the Colonials. It's a 1/2" taller than the Ace case, and has a range rod tube.

The Log Cabin sells really nice padded cloth cases for long barreled rifles.
I recently bought one of these because I wasn't happy with the sleeves I've been using. I wish the outside was a smooth material because it tends to pick up lint, but other than that it's very nicely made and does the job.
In my state, cases are no longer required, but I found an old Boyt padded soft case that is long enough for my longest guns.
Soft Case by DGW. Priced reasonable & have very thick material.

If I am going to place to hunt or shoot, i put the butt stock on the floor board and lean the upper part back against the seat. If I stop someplace to buy something I will throw a blanket or coat over it and lock the doors.
If taking it into a motel, I put it inside one of my canvas or padded sleeve cases.
Another recommendation for Unique cases. Great quality, slot for range rod and a few options for length.
I have foam lined hard cases that will lock with a key. Used them to fly to Friendship. The airport inspectors have no idea how to check a flintlock. Kind of humorous. Once they are check in I put strapping tape around the latches. It has worked so far.

My Kibler SMR with the 46" barrel will not fit today's cars. A 1960 Cadillac maybe, but they don't make those anymore. You need a SUV or a full sized pick up!
I have a Nissan Sentra. I can fit a few 8 foot long 2x4 in there with all the doors, windows, trunk closed with no problem.
I made myself a hard case out of 1/4 inch plywood and padded the inside with foam that is cut out to fit snugly around the rifle. I only use it when on a long road trip.
However, for everyday convenience I use a soft case that I made simply by folding over a narrow piece of old blanket and sewing the edges together. I left a long section that projects beyond the open end that I can fold over to close the end and hold the rifle inside. This flap has a throng which I then wrap around and tie it closed.
I just don't understand why people buy these things that are so easy to make yourself. Back in the day, people were much more self sufficient; and frugal.
