Maybe I`m breaking the rules of this Forum.

Gunsmith L. Collombert from Aix les Bains.

THE MUST HABE BEEN BUILT BETWEEN 1860 - 1880.

Built for Target shooting (and I will use them again for that)

Calibre 10.5 mm

High-quality pair of pistols in almost new condition.
The Pictures tell the rest.

Ask for your opinion whether the pistols fit into this forum.

And a container of percussion caps absolutely guaranteed not to split. Never knew they made reloadable copper percussion caps... Those really are beautiful pistols.

No. They do not fit into this forum. Send them to me immediately to keep yourself from getting into trouble with the moderators. 😉
An absolutely beautiful brace of pistols. They are what every serious ml'er dreams of owning some day. Enjoy.

A truly beautiful set & with that rifling pattern will provide you with suburb accuracy !
The quality of workmanship is why I have collected & shot European & English rifles & pistols.

Do you think they fluted the barrels for the same reason they do today or was it just for looks?

You have to admit that it looks good.... Today I bleeve it's mostly to impress the neighbours - unless you are in some serious shooting event, you'll never notice the difference between a fluted and unfluted barrel.

absolutly is as much about looks as function today. I am just wondering if back then they understood the function and were trying to ad rigidity to the barrel which is certainly not necessary in pistol? or if it was 100% the look?

why do I get the feel that if I was gifted these pistols I might stand a chance of beating Brian in Sepetember and retaining my state championship ;)
