Hi all. I'm new here. Been shooting for about forty years but only got into muzzleloaders a few years back.
I run a Rogers and Spence - which I really enjoy. Acquired a Beretta ML Tricentennial OU shotgun back around the start of the plague. Havn't shot it yet, but hoping to do so in the next few weeks.

Anyhoo, glad to be here and looking forward to learning a lot!

Cheers

D
Welcome from Frostbite Central…

I knew you'd front up here Ruddy !
Why not nobody ever responded to my Cape Dutch musket enquiry, So I made one anyway . Well greatly advanced .
But Scots 17c I do know a bit about I've made enough .I aught to.( I got married at Fort Ticonderoga wearing a 12 " dirk & a Lemon Butt Snaphance pistol & all the togs. , & can recite lots of Robert Burns poems & songs so I do have a few Clues) .Broad Yorkshire/ Scots lingo . Nobody from Ohio can tell the difference ! . NB to Ohio folks Spent a lot of time in Darke County & Marietta I'me fond of that state anyway Twice 'fought' on Blennerhasset Island as' Displaced Confederate River boat Engineer 'went by canoe & slept under it .lots of fun .I don't have any particular reason for being Confederate or Jacobite ones expediancy less kit ,The other is romance ,They had style and I don't like woolen strides in summer ( I wear long strides for about two hours on Anzac day & that's it per annum ) for experiment I hunted in these local mountains (We grow a good crop of forested Mountains here )wearing the same Fielimore for attire & blanket it worked fine , I've hunted with Scots Snaphance rifles & they worked fine too .Ide go all weather & mostly off track for not less than a week .Much reduced after marriage & now due to global warming the hills are getting steeper .Mmmm funny that.
Regards Rudyard

Welcome! (Despite my English family name, genetic research tells us we are mostly Scot, plus my father's grandmother was an Orkney Sinclair.)

Welcome from East Anglia - doon there. Lots of muzzleloading in our club of around 500 members. This coming Saturday will be m/l's only!!

And for Mr Coinneach in post #8 - gun laws in Scotland [except for air guns] are ALL the same as they are for the rest of the UK, as far as muzzleloading firearms are concerned. They have been covered in great detail by me and others who live here many times over the years - do a search and I'm sure you'll find them.

Question for the OP, what are the Gun laws there in regard to Black Powder Muzzle loaders ?
In broad brush terms, pretty much the same as for any other firearm. Powder storage is covered under Health and Safety laws.

You can hold unlimited shotguns if you have a Shotgun Certificate - granted by Police Scotland after a background check, proving you have adequate security, character and medical checks.

For each pistol and rifle, you need to have the specific gun entered on a Firearms Certificate - this is a little harder, you have to show a need for the gun, rather than just a want, in addition to all the other criteria. The need could be something like hunting, vermin control or target shooting with a government-approved club.

Its was a simple question to an individual who didn't happen to be you.

I live in England and the OP lives in Scotland, as I noted, the laws regarding muzzleloading firearms are the same in both places. This has been covered endless times in this forum by people who live in UK - hence my recommendation. A lot of folks here who live in the USA, get jaded seeing repetitive posts of how the laws are here in UK.

My post wasn't a nose-thumbing - it was a genuine recommendation. How you choose to read it is up to you.
