I was at the local Aldi and found jars of Morello (sour) cherries on the seasonal aisle. These are the cherries called for in Martha Washington's Cherry Bounce recipe and are usually hard to find. They're already jarred in light syrup so that cuts out several of the steps necessary for using fresh cherries. I made up a batch last night and it's really nice. I'm going back to load up on them before the seasonal aisle changes.

Neighbor has a cherry Tree. Brings me back to my aunts yard in Indy wheas a kid we would strip her tree in a weekend when we went back to visit! We had an Aldi in St Johns but Covid took care of it. Havent ever seen another out here. (Aldi is a discount store like TG&Y used to be and they too have been gone for like 15-20 years).

I still have about a quart of cherry bounce my mother made 30+ years ago. She used the pie cherries from a tree in her yard. She used vodka and no other spices just sugar. Good stuff.
