Beautiful scrimshaw work.Finely detailed. You have that nice aged look on it also.
Your a true scrimshander I'd say.
Long ago I did a cow horn articulating another hobby of mine.Coonhunting.Not near as fine of work as yours but just satisfied myself with it.
Think I used a glovers needle/india ink/ and 0000 steel wool of course.Needed a good pair of glass's also....ha ha.

I finished this horn up today (#23) and had intended to sell it, but when I was pounding in the tail staple I cracked the wooden plug! (The staple prongs were too fat, just as I thought!) It was an easy repair but I won't sell it now.
It looks nice on my shooting pouch though :)
Fantastic.

I don't think I have ever made anything that is perfect and I would be suspicious of anything that somebody tries to sell me that they c;laim IS perfect. I have two horns now, both plain Janes, and if I encountered this one on a table somewhere, I'd be parting with some silver then enquiring about prettying up the ones I already have. I suppose I should learn how to do scrimshaw.... if only I had the time.
You're very kind thanks :)

Don’t admit to cracking it yourself. Create a story to go with it, something like “I came face to face with the biggest black bear ever seen in the Smoky Mountains. Before I could raise my gun to fire, he swung at me with a great big paw and knocked me down over a cliff. I landed right on my horn cracking the base of it. If I hadn’t landed on my horn, I would have rolled right over into the river and probably drowned!”

Or you could just mail it to me. I ain’t above telling a good story especially for something that nice.
Banjoman I like your imagination a lot! :)
