I need your good advise for a place to start getting this rifle up and running. The rifle in question is shown with my trusty old .54 cal CVA BIG BORE . THE LEAD I'll be using is shown in the other photo. Any help is appreciated.

I would suggest starting with 50 grains of the blackpowder of your choice, increasing the charge maybe 5 or 10 grains at a time until accuracy started to degrade, or you found the recoil knocked all the fun out of shooting the gun. Whatever comes first. Then back off 5 or 10 grains and call it a hunting load. Somewhere along the way you should have found your conical target load, though for a paper punching target load, I would consider trying a patched roundball.

Thanks , I will do as you suggested. I wasn't sure round balls would work well in the 24 -1 twist . I have 2,3 and 4 f powder so I should be able to work out something. Thanks again for your reply.
