Sorry gang, gotta vent.

Was informed this week that Youtube took down a video of mine for including a minor (my 9 y/o son at the time) participating in a 'dangerous activity'. It was a short musical montage of still photos of us building his .32 cal caplock. Out of a couple dozen photos, there was one of him draw filing his barrel, one of him inletting his buttplate, and a photo of him holding it when he was done. The rest were just various stages of the build. At the end was a clip of him bench shooting the rifle. That video had been up there for nearly 6 years! Sad given I can go on there right now and pull up multitudes of minors participating in IDPA and run-n-gun type events.

I'm guessing that draw filing sent them over the edge.

Venting complete.

That is messed up.
I run IDPA matches, at various levels, and must admit, I do experience some discomfort with minors younger than high school age shooting these matches.
But I can't see censorship over it. And really can't see why anyone would feel a need to censor/cancel a video of a kid building then shooting a muzzleloader.

Frustrating... but as someone who was doing internet stuff back in the days when you actually had to have skills and knowledge to get online much less get anywhere once you were connected, I gotta say... it sucks but their site their rules. Self-hosting is the only way to go... but then we're back to 1993 and needing skills and knowledge...

When my sons were young they were shooting mls with supervision. They even helped wait on customers in my ml gunshop. And, on one occasion, taught some of their school teachers how to safely handle and load an ml. It's all in the upbringing.
As for Versant's original post, I'm upset also. This is a sign of the times where the controllers of online media are flaming liberals whose thought processes are in a world so far left we cannont understand it. Yes, color me angry.

THAT"S A BUNCH OF BULL,You are spending time teaching a bunch of skills that may serve him well later in life, Not to mention a WORK ETHIC, and father son time. Maybe you should have added some "Commercials" to your montage Showing him how to cut a line of COKE, or draw up a hit of HEROIN. Just Pray he ever uses those SKILLS. Spend as much time together as you can, their gone too soon..Keep up the good work , the world needs it, Just AIN'T no fathers in the homes no more . NOW I'M PI&&ED, I better get off this thing , before I get thrown off,,Be Safe>>>>Wally

Pretty much. I’ve seen some of our other ML folks also post frustration regarding the site flagging them for firearm build content.

It’s hard to connect with todays youth. (scoutmaster talking here as well) There have been a number of posts on here lately to that tune. The craftmanship and skills needed to build a ML as opposed to assembling modular modern firearms is not even comparable. Where would youth learn that? It’s not like there’s a ML builder in every county. Heck, we built that ML based on videos I watched from Mike Belliveau.

It’s sad, frustrating, infuriating, and 100 other feelings. I can’t help but be curious what flagged it and not hundreds of other youth shooting vids.

At least we got to build it and we’ll build another and another. We just won’t post videos there. Someone mentioned Rumble.. will check that out.

It's sickening what YouTube leaves up and what it takes down. Vile, perverted lifestyle videos are left up. Anything about transgender freaks is not touched. Any and all liberal material is not given any scrutiny. Yet innocuous gun videos get the boot. This shows the level of societal decay that is happening right now. It's disgusting!

I am sorry to hear this. It’s ridiculous, but I am not surprised. Often times I find myself on Y…. Watching mostly hunting and gun videos but I have to revisit that. The right thing for me to do is, which most times is not the easiest, it’s to treat them the way I treat Dicks and Amazon. They are dead to me

Yes he is my favorite and basically only youtube channel I watch. He usually puts up a new video every Thursday or so. Today I noticed not only is there no video for today, but also the last two videos are gone. Now Sharps type stuff does not interest me much but censorship DOES!

As a matter of fact I just checked out the comments for his last video that is being allowed to remain posted......and he flat out says to a viewer in the comments section that he was not only censored BUT cannot upload a video for a week from today. Don't believe me go to his channel!
