ripped open the ups package containing my new "FLINTLOCK FOWLERS". read the preface, forward and the introduction before the slavedriver caught up to me. "my brother is coming with his new wife" says she." the lawn needs trimmed and mowed " says she.

just finished the dang lawn. left about 3 quarts of blood with the vampires. they are terrible this year.

ML related I weighed a bunch of RB. I fitted my cool net bad from @hawkeye hugo to another bag. Now I can swap between bags.
Had a good day shooting with a friend at the Fort Whoop-Up BP range. Great weather and a beautiful range. 
Spent most of today looking carefully at things which are dear to me. Wife. Dog. Cats. Home. Garden. View. Firearms. Knives. Hawks. Books. Pictures.

I tried the Scotchbright thing on my Kentucky. Then I remembered I was out of balls, so I cast some .45 round balls. I was about done and ready to go give it a test when the Mrs. hollered that she had the regional softball game on the radio. My cousin's youngest daughter is the starting pitcher, so I had to go listen to that. She struck out 10 and drove in two runs on the way to a 9-0 win! Oh, and our grand-niece got a hit in her first varsity at bat!
So, I didn't get to try shooting today, but I guess it was worth it to hear the game.

Last night we had a fun time up on Cripple Creek. This weekend I'm getting stuff prepared for our session next week with kids in the Scout camp.

so far all I've done is unwrap some parts received from October country and dogfood.
wasted all morning sprucing up the place in preparation for the arrival of my brother in law and his bride complete with two coyote bait dogs.
as far as brother in laws go he is ok. not like the one next door that makes noises like a carrot all day.

Dug out my Teepee that has not been used for ten years. I am just too old to fool with it now. It is very dirty but solid. The liner has never been used and is spotless. I am giving it to an Indian friend and her husband. Hope they enjoy it. Polecat

I took my boy to the NMLRA youth shoot at Friendship today. He shot all the matches and had a lot of fun. This is his 4th shoot at Friendship. He told me he wants to build a rifle with me, success!
I told a friend I needed lead. He said to ask his exwife (who is also my friend) if she still has his lead from when they were married. She did. And now I have a bunch.
Playing with my Ardesa 12 bore lock. Both springs have been replaced, much polishing has been done and now I'm working on stoning the full cock notch hoping I don't go too far. I now have two nice crisp clicks but I'd still like to get the trigger weight down by a pound or two.
I can see when I buy my next ML I'll be holding it to my ear and caressing it as I cock it as if it were a musical instrument.
In between times I've been working on various loads and I think I'm getting there with no 5 shot for rabbits but I'm still not happy over 30 yards, not that I particularly want to be, it's more about the idea of pushing myself and the gun rather than taking risks hunting.
What is strange is how much thinking time the ML takes up. I have other guns I've invested a lot of time in getting the best out of but nothing compare to this. Maybe because a muzzleloader demands so much of you it rewards you equally, I don't know but I'm enjoying the ride.
I can see when I buy my next ML I'll be holding it to my ear and caressing it as I cock it as if it were a musical instrument.

Measured out powder charges and refilled my capper. Cast some more balls yesterday. Ready to go out next week!

Dug out my cut-down 1863 Springfield. It appears to be what was considered a post ACW "cadet rifle", used in one of the many military schools that popped up after the War of Northern Aggression. The trigger is waay too heavy and I'll need to reduce it down to around 3-4 pounds.
Did some relief carving around the tang of my .58 Colonial. Much to my surprise, not bad results! I'm actually glad I opted for the regular grade stock. Hitting end grain or a knotty spot with the chisel can be a real chore to get through. I'm just fine with a milder looking stock.
