oooh, just found this post and learned of the event. 10 hour drive for me, I will be there!

Hope to see many of you fine folks next weekend at the Classic. I've got as many trade goods as I could make for the event. The trailer is packed with items that aren't affected by weather, Wednesday I'll pack up the rest and head out Thursday morning.

I got home around noon today from spending Friday and Saturday at the event. Had a great time and the weather really turned out great.

Was able to see some really neat old guns, listen to the presenters and got to shoot an original Hawken rifle.

Once again another event planned on attending and missed due to life getting in the way.

Quite a few of us were there. I know of at least 5 and am certain of other Forum members who were there.

The original Hawken rifle was fired about 180 times. The load was 30 grains of 2fg GOEX powder to send the 0.495 ball down range. Targets were set at 25 to 65 yards. Shooters were allowed one shot. Some came back for a second shot. A Gemmer Member loaded the rifle to ensure that only 30 grains of powder were loaded. With a barrel of 1 1/4" across the flats, a bore of 50 caliber and a length of 36", the rifle weighed about 14 to 16 pounds. You needed to use the hold with the crescent butt plate nestled just above the bicep, the stock resting across the chest and the supporting arm with the elbow resting against the rib cage for a solid hold. The rifle shot to point of aim.

While I did not shoot the rifle due to recent shoulder surgery, I did hold the rifle and yell bang to qualify for the "I shot and original Hawken rifle" medallion.

I was "SHOCKED".....I actually hit the target...LOL

Mrs BPMS & I both run cameras while there all day Friday & Saturday.
I have sooooo much footage between both cameras to sort through, my head will be spinning
by the time I get a video ( maybe two ) edited of this cool event.

It was awesome meeting folks! I had a blast...Literally!!! A fine time was had by all!!! I will be back next year!!!

I missed the event, but enjoyed these posts immensely. I'm glad it went well for those who attended.

If they do it again, maybe I can make there next time.

Shooting an original Hawken... Wow! That's something I would like to do.

@B P Maniac Shooter got some videos of me shooting and giving the thumps up in the upper photos.
Wet but still had a good time.

Still have over 2 hours of camera footage to work with...WHEW!
