I'm usually the one hearing about everyone else's good fortune but I finally caught a break last week. For 40 years anytime I asked "Ya got any powder?" all I ever was asked was 2,3, or 4f? And all i ever saw was Dupont and Goex. If someone would have asked me months ago to name a different BP brand I would have lost everything on final Jeopardy! I just read recently about the variety of powders (sometimes) available in the US. but figured I'd never see anything else.
Last week i nneded a scope screw and stopped by this tiny little shop that doesn't have a lot of inventory but caters to the center fire crowd. It turned out he had the screw I needed and as I was heading toward the door it occurred to me to at least ask. "Hey, you wouldn't happen to have any black powder would you?" He pointed to a small cabinet in the corner of the store and said "That's all I got, right there." I got his last Goex 3f and asked to see the one next to it. He handed it to me and after looking it over I said I'd take those too. Funny, I never shot Old Eynesfod before but I really like it a lot. Their 2f is closer to other's 3f.

At this point in time and market conditions, availability is what is important.

If you do not buy powder when you find, there is someone else who will.

How many posts here begin with, "where can I buy";

1. Powder
2. Caps
3. Flints
4. Lead
5. Guns

I have a couple pounds each left of Old Eynsfod. 2f and 3f. It is great powder. Worked the best for me in all my powder guns. I visit a friend in Missouri that lives a half hour from Grafs. Need another visit to him and try and stock up. With GOEX shut down though. :(

He had a Ib of Swiss but it was 1 1/2f. I never heard of powder below 2f for rifles. I'm thinking cannon or thunder mug.?
I use 1 1/2 Swiss in my Brown Bess Charleville and metallic cartridges 44-40 45LC and 357 old eynsford too it all works very well for me. I have never purchased a black powder I don’t like . LOL

OE is Goex high end powder - Both now obsolete until Goex reboots.
I like it’s soft fouling for repeated shots.
Swiss is still the top of powders over the past few decades.
